Is COVID Vaccine the Mark of the Beast?

I have been surprised by something, recently. People who never seemed religious are now talking about Bible prophecy, and quoting Bible verses. I found someone watching an Internet video about the Bible, and what it says about our future. They seemed interested in what they were learning.

One name keeps getting mentioned “The Mark of the Beast.” You might have noticed that this mark is somehow connected to COVID vaccinations, for some people.

So, what is that ‘Mark’? The last book of the Christian Bible is called the “Revelation” and it refers to the Apocalypse. That word means “unveiling” and the picture is of a cloth cover being pulled away to show what is hidden. The future is unveiled. In the book of Revelation, a man named John had visions while he was a prisoner on a penal colony island called Patmos. He was a persecuted Christian, as an old man, and he wrote his visions down for us, including something about that ‘Mark of the Beast.’

John started with one vision where he heard some words:

“Then as I looked, I saw a door standing open in heaven, and the same voice I had heard before spoke to me like a trumpet blast. The voice said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must happen after this.”” (Revelation 4;1)

In chapter 13 of Revelation, some controlling force, like a world dictator, is predicted. This is where we get the name ‘Beast.’ The number of this Beast is 666, if you wonder where that came from. We are told that the Beast will control people everywhere with something called a ‘Mark.’:

It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name. (Revelation 13: 16 and 17)

Until now, only a few Christians who were very serious about the Bible, cared about those words. Outside of church groups, Bible prophecy was not a topic of conversation.

But now we have COVID. Specifically, we have a threat of vaccine passports that will permit us to travel, or will force us to stay home, unless we are vaccinated. Suddenly, people are worried about control over our lives, and Bible prophecy is a hot topic.

What happened is clear. Over a few weeks, a dangerous virus infected some people in China, and then spread everywhere. And now we have the effort to vaccinate the whole world with vaccines that have not been tested to a safe standard. Safety testing for a vaccine takes about ten years, and any vaccine could fail the test and be rejected. It’s a test, not a coronation.

Add vaccine passports to that, and we have a strange, exploding crisis in the world. It’s easy to see why people are wondering if this is the end.

So, what do I think? Is the COVID vaccine, with passports, the Mark of the Beast?

Yes, No, and Maybe.

Bible prophecy, predictions of the future, are interesting, but not simple. In prophecy, the problem in the world is us, and we live in an echo chamber with the volume increasing. If you shout into a canyon to hear the echo, you know the sound will return, and return until it fades away.

Imagine an echo that increases and increases, until the big one. That is the pattern in the Bible. We are told about the Antichrist:

“Little children, it is the last hour. Just as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have appeared. This is how we know it is the last hour.” (1 John 2:18)

We will hear the echoes before the final big one comes. What we have now is a possibility that most of the world ignored, until COVID. Something could come out of nowhere and change the whole world. Who knew? Who knew that the Bible promised this thousands of years ago?

I think the biggest problems with the COVID crisis come from bad project management. I was trained in that subject and I recommend it to everyone. I remember clearly, when I was trained, our expert-consultant instructor told us, if we wanted to see an example of bad project management, we should look at anything done by the government.

He was not joking.

That was a prophecy for me. Now we have the COVID crisis that no one can control, and we seem to be sliding into the easy temptation of social control. This in an echo, where control seems to be the best option, and if this is an early echo, expect more and louder. What’s happening is eerie and uncanny, for those who don’t believe. Most of the world doesn’t believe, and the things that we ignored are suddenly on us.
