The National Microbiology Laboratory based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada does research on some of the world’s deadliest diseases.
The Globe and Mail recently asked why Prime Minister Justin Trudeau allowed members of Communist China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) unfettered access to the Canada’s ‘highest-security’ infectious disease lab?
The Globe and Mail reports:
Scientists working at Canada’s highest-security infectious-disease laboratory have been collaborating with Chinese military researchers to study and conduct experiments on deadly pathogens.[…]
The Globe and Mail has also learned that one of the Chinese researchers, Feihu Yan, from the People’s Liberation Army’s (PLA) Academy of Military Medical Sciences, worked for a period of time at the Winnipeg lab, a Level 4 facility equipped to handle some of the world’s deadliest diseases. This researcher is credited as a co-author on all six of the papers. However, on two of them, he is listed as being affiliated with both the Winnipeg lab and the military medical academy.
Two of the Winnipeg lab scientists, Xiangguo Qiu and her biologist husband, Keding Cheng, were fired in January of this year after the Canadian Security Intelligence Service, as The Globe reported last week, recommended that their security clearances be removed on national-security grounds. CSIS had also been concerned about the nature of information Dr. Qiu might have passed on to China’s Wuhan Institute of Virology.
When asked to comment on what took place at the lab, Andy Ellis, a former of director of Canada’s Security Intelligence Service, told The Globe and Mail:
“We won’t let a Canadian in unless we have done a deep background check, but we let [someone] in that we don’t know anything about. It doesn’t make sense,” he added.

And, this is not the first time scientists have been fired at the Winnipeg lab. Here is little more about an incident that took place in 2019/2020.
The CBC alleges deadly viruses were illegally sent from the Winnipeg lab to the Chinese Communist Party’s virus lab in Wuhan, resulting in an investigation by the RCMP in 2020.
CBC provides this interesting comment by Amir Attaran, an epidemiologist and law professor from the University of Ottawa:
“We have a researcher who was removed by the RCMP from the highest security laboratory that Canada has for reasons that government is unwilling to disclose. The intelligence remains secret. But what we know is that before she was removed, she sent one of the deadliest viruses on Earth, and multiple varieties of it to maximize the genetic diversity and maximize what experimenters in China could do with it, to a laboratory in China that does dangerous gain of function experiments. And that has links to the Chinese military.”

And when Canada’s esteemed Prime Minister isn’t allowing PLA scientists access to Canada’s highest tech virology labs, he is training the PLA in cold weather fighting.
Of course, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, admires anything with a hammer and sickle as a logo:
