Fear Factor

Fear has long been an enemy of faith. The two are about as opposite as you can get. Yet they have two things in common. They both divide and unite. The world wants us all to be united. We’re not united unless we have a common goal or a common enemy. COVID became that enemy in the past few years. But that wasn’t enough. So, the purveyors of fear decided that any voice that didn’t line up with the ever-changing World Health Organization were enemy voices and therefore needed to be silenced. Thus, scientists and doctors who saw things differently were mocked, ridiculed and ousted by the scientific and medical community. There was no dialogue or discussion about the reasons why they had a different view. All that mattered was that they were different. Free thinking and certainly freedom of speech were seen as threats to the established narrative of we say so and friends.   It wasn’t even the idea of who was right, it was a matter of a more powerful voice silencing …

Congo volcano erupts

Another volcano erupted this year, this time in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Mount Nyiragongo erupted around 7 pm on May 23, 2021 turning the sky a bright red. People in the nearby city of Goma, population 670,000, reported seeing giant flames shooting into the night sky and the smell of sulphur. Thousands are fleeing the city. The last time the 3,000-meter volcano erupted was in 2002 and resulted in the deaths of 100. An eruption in 1977 killed over 600 people. The volcano is located in the Virunga National Park which borders Rwanda. The park is home to mountain gorillas, an endangered species made famous by Dian Fossey. There have been several volcanic eruptions so far this year including two in Iceland, three in Guatemala and as well eruptions in Alaska, Indonesia, Italy, and the Caribbean island of St. Vincent. COVID and Evolution – What is wrong with this picture?

Darwin’s Theory of Evolution gave us a universe with no God, and no possibility that God could exist. If life started by accident, probably in a drop of water, and then evolved to become many species, there is no place for God in the story. And this story is taught to us and our children in most of the world. This is not a small thing. Most people believe in some divine being or force, and science tells us we are wrong. What should a believer do? There is an old question that is interesting to evolutionists: ‘Why do we have an appendix?’ That tiny organ in our bodies has no known purpose, and it is dangerous when it becomes infected. Probably someone has an answer to the question, or at least a good theory. Another question that we should answer is: ‘Why do we have appendicitis?’ If we are the end product of millions or billions of years of evolution, why do we have such frail bodies? God may have some questions for you

There is a verse in Isaiah that may add an interesting twist to your prayer life. Even those I will bring to My holy mountain,And make them joyful in My house of prayer.Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be acceptable on My altar;For My house will be called a house of prayer for all the peoples.” (Isiah 56:7) In this passage, God says He wants to bring people to “My house of prayer” and then further on God describes that His house will also be called “a house of prayer for all the peoples.” Some have suggested that this special place on God’s holy mountain is not only a place where people gather to pray, but is also a place where God prays. What does this mean? Is God praying for us? Perhaps. We know that Jesus is sitting at God’s right hand interceding for us (Romans 8:33-34). But there may be more to this than that. Prayer in its most basic sense is communication, we are speaking to God. So is it possible …
