Some timely advice from 1776


I just read these encouraging words during this difficult time:

In 1776, Thomas Paine penned the following famous words to encourage General Washington’s discouraged troops to stay the course during the prolonged Revolutionary War:

“These are the times that try men’s souls: The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of his country but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman.” Read more

Two days later, Washington’s army crossed the Delaware.
