Paul Dorian is a noted meteorologist and sun watcher and earlier this month he expressed his concerns that the sun shot blanks twice in June.
This takes place when the sun looks blank because of a lack of sun spots or solar activity. He said that the sun went completely blank on June 4 and solar activity did not start-up again until June 8th and then again on June 23.
In between those two blank periods, Dorian described the sun spots as “sporadic.”
According to NASA the sun goes through a 11-year cycle of increased and decreased sun spot activity called a “solar maximum” and “solar minimum.”
This is the normal life of the sun.
Dorian says the recent spur in blanks indicates the sun is entering the minimum part of its cycle.
However, in what he describes as the “Weakest solar cycle in more than a century,” the extreme nature of the minimum is concerning him.
This could be paving the way for a much more alarming solar event called a “Maunder minimum.”
Similar to a “solar minimum,” a “Maunder minimum” takes on a more sinister twist when the reduced solar activity extends for years. This has a profound impact on earth’s temperature – resulting in a significant and prolonged cooling period.
The last “Maunder Minimum” that started during the early 1600s resulted in the “Little Ice Age.”
The consequences were devastating.
The cooling temperatures resulted in shortened growing season for crops sparking a number of famines in Europe. Historians estimate 10% of the populations of France (1693-94), Norway (1695-96) and Sweden (1696-97) died during famines in theses countries. Between 20% to 30% of the populations died when famines hit Estonia and Finland in 1696-97.
Because of the cooling, the Thames River in England that is normally free of ice in the winter froze over for several years. The same thing happened in Europe and many paintings were done of people skating on the ice.
A study by art expert Hans Neuberger stated between 1600-1649 there was an abnormal number of paintings with dark and dull skies.
Another particular feature of this cooling period were the reports of massive flooding taking place in Europe.
It wasn’t much different in North America. Indian tribes formed alliances to deal cooperatively with the increased cold and deeper snow. And in China, people quit growing warm weather crops such as oranges.
“If history is any guide, it is safe to say that weak solar activity for a prolonged period of time can have a cooling impact on solar temperatures in the troposphere which is the bottom layer of the Earth’s atmosphere – and where we live.”
Unfortunately, he is not alone. Several are warning this might be happening including England’s Met Office, the government’s official weather bureau, that has over the years been a strong proponent of man-made Global Warming.
In a June 2015 report, it stated there was a 15% to 20% chance we could be entering a cooling period similar to the “Little Ice Age” due to reduced solar activity.
Another is Professor Valentina Zharkova from England’s Northumbria University. She is predicting a cooling period (Maunder Minimum) between 2020-2050.
Zharkova who also works with the Royal Astronomical Society says solar activity will fall by 60% during this 30 year period.
If she is right, this coming Maunder Minimum could be the catalyst that fulfills a couple of the signs predicted by Jesus — plagues and famines — that warns us the earth is entering the end times.
