englandNEWS: There is now convincing evidence that the English Channel, which seperates England from France, was created in 24 hours by massive flood of Biblical proportions.

For decades, it was thought that the land bridge that once connected the peninsula which is now Britain to Europe had disappeared through a combination of slow erosion and rising seas. It was estimated that this separation had occurred over one million years.

This theory was just recently tossed into the trash bin because of a study being conducted on how England was populated.

As part of the Ancient Human Occupation of Britain project (AHOB), it was decided to scan the English Channel several kilometers off the coast of Sussex looking for examples of human settlement.

The advanced deep-sonar scan was able to penetrate through the thick sediment down to the sea bed. What they discovered was shocking.

They found massive scour marks gouged into the sea bed. In some areas the scoured out valley was 170 feet deep and 11 kilometres wide. They also discovered huge piles of boulder and deep bowls.

The team concluded that the only thing that could cause this kind of destruction was a flood. Britain, it seems, was separated from Europe by a massive flood of Biblical proportions.

Professor Chris Stringer who heads the ACOB project said, “This could have been one of the most power flood events known on earth.” It was estimated that the island of Britain was formed in less than  24 hours.

Some wonder if this cataclysmic event would explain why -- after a long period of settlement -- Britain had been completely abandoned for thousands of years.

Members of ACOB project estimated that the flood took place 400,000 to 200,000 years ago and blamed the flooding on a large lake overflowing its banks.

The lake theory and dating aside, this flood is eerily reminiscent of another flood of Biblical proportions found in Genesis chapter seven.

Editor's note: There are some distinct similarities between what happened here and the Noahic flood. In Genesis 7:11, the Bible records that huge fountains of water -- coming from deep within the earth's core -- burst open sending water rushing onto the earth. It's possible that the English Channel may have been created by one of those fountains that broke open near this area. In addition, the Noahic flood resulted in everyone being killed except those in the ark. As for the timing difference, dating is a guestimate at the best of times. The fact they date it as happening between  400,000 to 200,000 years indicates that. Another way of saying this is that it took place 200,000 years ago, plus or minus a couple hundred thousand years.
