On February 5, 2026, Nayib Bukele, the President of El Salvador, spoke at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, DC.

According to Fox News, he shared about the dark spiritual forces at work in the gangs and illicit drug industry in his country. He stated that many of the gang members in El Salvador are actively involved in satanic worship.

“We know gangs in El Salvador were satanic and they worshiped Satan,” Bukele said. “It’s straight up. Literally. When we went to their homes to arrest them, we discovered altars that were used for satanic rituals.”

They have photos and video evidence that showed the alleged satanic altars. He added that even though the government released this information, the mainstream media has basically ignored it.

Then Bukele acknowledged the Apostle Paul’s words in the Ephesians 6. In verse 12, he says that our real enemy is flesh and blood, but rather dark spiritual forces.

“Many people don’t know that our enemy was not just the flesh and blood, but spiritual as well. The gangs didn’t just murder, rape, extort. They also worship Satan,” Bukele said.

Bukele added there is evidence that some of these gang members are now in the US.

Since he was elected in 2019, Bukele has worked to break up the violent gangs running rampant in his country.

“El Salvador was the murder capital of the world. That was our nickname, murder capital of the world. The most dangerous place in the whole wide world. And now it’s the safest country in the whole continent,” Bukele said.

The Bible indicates that there may be a connection between the use of illicit drugs and the satanic realm.

When discussing the fall of Babylon in the book of Revelation, the Apostle John states that “all nations were deceived by your sorcery” (Revelation 18:23 ESV).

The Greek word for sorcery is ‘pharmakia’ from which we get the English word pharmacy. The word denoted the magical arts and the mind-bending drugs that were often linked to ancient rites. While the ESV translated the word as ‘sorcery’, the NASV rendered it ‘witchcraft’.

Thayer’s Greek dictionary states that the word refers to, “the use or the administering of drugs, poisoning, sorcery, magical arts, often found in connection with idolatry and fostered by it and metaphorically the deceptions and seductions of idolatry.”

The same Greek word is found in Galatians 5:20, where it is often translated as sorcery.

In October last year, I released a podcast addressing the growing evidence that spiritual warfare is starting to heat up.

In the podcast, I discussed comments made by Tim Poole, a popular YouTuber. Though Poole is not a Christian, his podcast was dealing with the rising demands for Roman Catholic exorcists.

But he also talked about a drug called Dimethylrypamine (DMT), which may reveal the connection between the satanic realm and the use of illicit drugs.

People using DMT talk about travelling to a different plane where they meet beings or entities.

But what caught Poole’s attention was an article on Vice. The author discussed two DMT users who spoke of meeting the same being, a purple woman, while on their trips.

“He explained to a friend of his and the friend said he knew the purple woman and explained in detail things he could not have possibly known indicating that taking this DMT brought them to a a point that actually exists and that by both experiencing it proved something,” Poole said.

How could two people, at different times, come in contact with the same purple being while taking DMT?

It suggests there is more going on here than we realize.

While there seems to be a connection between illicit drug use and the satanic realm, some have gone further stating that modern drug companies are also connected to the satanic realm.

Just because an English word, pharmacy, is derived from a Greek word that was connected to sorcery in ancient times, this does not mean it carries the same connection two thousand years later.
