Dan Bongino, 49, is a popular conservative commentator with over three million followers on Rumble and 5.5 million on Facebook, where he hosts The Dan Bongino Show.

Before developing his own podcast, he had worked with Fox News, served with the New York Police Department, and was a Secret Service agent for the CIA for 12 years.

Recently, he shared a spiritual encounter that he had the same morning his mother died, Faithewire reports.

At 4:43 am, he received a shocking call that his mother had died unexpectedly on Friday, March 15, 2024, after falling down a flight of chairs.

He was actually awake when the phone call came in because of a supernatural encounter that happened to him about two hours earlier.

It was so real that Bongino was actually reaching for his gun, thinking there was an intruder in his home.

Before telling what happened to him, Bongino said “I want to tell you in advance, I’m not crazy, OK?”

Bongino has trouble sleeping and around 3 am he had gone to the kitchen for a glass of water and just returned to his bed with hopes of falling asleep.

Suddenly, he felt someone literally grab and hug him.

“It was real,” Bongino said. “I’m telling you, it was real. I actually jumped up. I know it sounds crazy, but I was looking for my gun. And I started looking around the house.”

After checking his home and realizing no one was there, Bongino felt he had an encounter with God, which he later discovered, took place around the same time his mother had died.

“I’m telling you, if you don’t believe in God and the afterlife, I would after last night,” Bongino added. “You’re free to believe whatever you want, obviously. … I’ve never believed more in the power of Jesus.”

Though it seems unusual, Bongino said the incident brought him peace and helped him connect more with God.

Aside from dreams, it is not unusual for people to have supernatural encounters late at night, and there are several examples throughout the Bible of this actually happening:

• Abraham encountered God late one night, when “a smoking fire pot and a flaming torch passed between” the animal sacrifices Abraham had laid out on the ground. This act confirmed the covenant that God was making with Abraham about the Promised Land (Genesis 15:17-18)
• Jacob wrestled with an angel of God late at night (Genesis 32:22-32), after having a dream a few nights earlier of angels ascending and descending from heaven (Genesis 28:10-22).
• God woke up Samuel by speaking directly to him three times through the night. It was so real, that at first Samuel thought Eli, the High Priest, was calling out to him. By the fourth time, Samuel realized God was speaking to him. (1 Samuel 3:2–11).
• After the Apostle Paul was arrested and was being transported to Rome by a centurion, their ship encountered a major storm. That night an angel visited Paul telling him that all aboard that ship would survive the storm (Acts 27: 22-26).
