Solar eclipse

A solar eclipse will occur in the US on Monday, April 8, 2024 and the state of Texas will have a front-row seat for this unique solar event.

Parts of the state will actually experience a total eclipse. This means, that the moon will completely block the sun, resulting in the day being almost as dark as night, giving people the chance to see stars that typically are only seen in the night sky.

The eclipse is expected to last around three hours as it passes across the one-star state starting at 12:06 pm CDT, with the sun being totally blacked out in parts of the state.

Some estimate that upwards of one million people could actually travel to Texas to experience the total eclipse, a unique solar event.

CBN reports that some churches, like Coryell Community Church in Gatesville, TX, are actually hosting parties to watch the eclipse.

Former NASA employee, Jeff Stone, who has been labeled as the ‘eclipse guy’ by the Baptist Press, says this eclipse is a unique event.

“During totality, which here in Kerrville is going to be 4 minutes and 26 seconds at my house, the sky is going to be so dark, like night,” Stone said. “You’ll be able to see stars. Granted, you won’t see all the stars that you normally do, but you’ll be able to see the bright stars. And, in the case of this one.… You’ll also be able to see all the naked-eye planets, and I think that is going to be crazy cool,”

The Biblical prophets predicted that the darkening of the sun was one of the events taking place in the days leading up to the return of Christ (see Joel 3:15 and Revelation 6:12).

However, solar eclipses are a regular occurrence and were not looked upon as a singular event, but become significant when combined with several other events that would occur around the same time.

In his vision of the end time, the apostle John said at the opening of the sixth seal, “The sun turned black like sackcloth made of goat hair.”

However, that solar eclipse was combined with a ‘great earthquake’, a blood moon, and numerous asteroids hitting the earth. Note: the latter could also be a reference to a nuclear attack because John also saw people fleeing to underground bunkers to hide (Revelation 6:12-15).
