With growing concerns about our move to a cashless society, a man in Australia was shocked when a Sydney car dealer charged him a flat fee of $55 because he decided to buy his car with cash, News.com.au reports.
Further, the dealer would only allow a maximum of $5,000 cash to be used to purchase a vehicle. This meant that as a flat fee, the $55 worked out to at minimum 1.1% of the purchase and was actually higher than the company was charging if the man had bought with a MasterCard debit card. However, the fee was lower than what the dealership charged if you used a credit card.
When contacted about the fee, the MG dealership explained the charge was necessary because of the work involved in handling cash. The dealer has since announced it will no longer be charging customers who use cash.
For decades, those studying end-times theology believed that the move to a cashless society would play a major role in the antiChrist’s ability to stop people from buying and selling unless they take the mark of the Beast (Revelation 13:17).
