When Miriam Evans was in her 20s she experienced a neurological disorder that resulted in the left side of her face becoming paralyzed.

Not only did it affect her appearance, but made it complicated to eat and drink because when she drank, the fluid would dribble out of the left side of her mouth.

She went for several tests including an MRI scan, but doctors were unable to determine what was causing the neurological disorder.

It was an embarrassing affliction and because it was also noticeable when she talked, Miriam began pulling back from meeting new people.

However, in a video on the YouTube channel, Supernatural Stories, Miriam shared her story of divine healing

When the neurological disorder initially showed up in her life, Miriam had just met a group of Christians, made her own personal commitment to Christ, and started attending church.

During one of the services, the leaders of the church mentioned that they believed in divine healing, and they wanted to pray for Miriam about her facial paralysis.

When the pastor called for people to come forward for prayer for healing, Miriam sat frozen in her chair, until the leader specifically asked if she would come forward for prayer.

After reading a verse from James 5, the elders then prayed for Miriam:

¹⁴ Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. (James 5:14-25 NIV)

At this point, in her walk with God Miriam struggled with the idea that Jesus loved her and believed that God actually hated her and was rejecting her because of her sin.

As the elders anointed her with oil and prayed, all Miriam could think about was that they had no idea of her sin.

After they finished, Miriam returned to her seat and didn’t feel like anything had changed.

In fact, she wouldn’t know that something miraculous had happened until a few days later in the week.

After waking up one morning, she went into the bathroom to brush her teeth and noticed that the water was not dribbling out of her mouth.

She had been healed and over the next few days as her facial muscles strengthened and began to function normally again, her face completely returned to normal.

The prayer had worked.

Miriam finished her testimony by telling people that healing is available through Christ’s death on the cross.

“And if you’re watching this story, and you are sick in your body in any capacity, it could be a head cold, it could be cancer, or it could be paralysis,” Miriam said. “It’s easy for Jesus to heal you because He already paid the price on the cross over 2,000 years ago.”

There is also a very simple message here: God does not abandon us because of our unbelief or our sins.
