Long Hollow, a megachurch based in Hendersonville, TN, was forced to pause its service because so many people had spontaneously stated they wanted to be water baptized, CBN reports.
The church, pastored by Robbie Gallaty, was holding a baptismal service for one person and casually asked during the service if any others in the congregation would like to get baptized.
When 88 initially responded, the service had to be put on hold to better organize the event. By the time, the service was finished 136 people had been water baptized.
This included several people who were initially watching the service online saw what was happening and decided to attend the service in order to get baptized.
In a Facebook post describing what had happened, Gallaty wrote:
“We saw more people baptized Sunday than any other time before (even during the revival). 8 people drove in after watching online, 6 people left the service, went home, and came back because the Holy Spirit convicted them to be obedient in baptism.”
“One guy said, ‘I have been worshiping online in Michigan for a year. God told me on Saturday to drive down to Hendersonville for worship. Today is my first time attending in person. I’ve put off baptism for years, and here I am in the tank to make it right.’ Only God can do something like that.”
A second baptismal service has been organized for the upcoming Sunday.
Over the past few months, there have been reports of mass water baptism events. This included:
- 4,166 who were water baptized on Pentecost Sunday,
- 4,500 who were water baptized in July after a Greg Laurie evangelistic service in California, and
- 2,000 who were recetnly water baptized during a Life.Church service.
