In what is being called the largest water baptism in history, over 4,000 people were baptized at Pirate’s Cove in Southern California, CBN reports.

Over 280 churches participated in the mass water baptism held on Pentecost Sunday to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Jesus People Movement that swept North America in the 60s and 70s.

It is estimated over 8,000 watched the 4,166 people being water baptized.

Pentecost Sunday is held 50 days after Easter Sunday and marks the falling of the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost in Acts 2. It fell on May 28, this year.
