According to a recent survey conducted by Summit Ministries/McLaughlin and Associates, a significant majority of Americans do not believe that Christians should have to compromise their faith in the face of woke, left-wing ideology, Breitbart reports.

This included being forced to compromise their values in the areas of traditional marriage, trans issues and critical race theory.

The survey conducted between Dec 9 and 14, found that 68% of Americans do not believe that Christians should be forced to compromise in these areas. But this poll also revealed that a significant percentage, 32%, believe that Christians should.

However, when politics were factored in the results took an interesting turn. The more left-wing an individual was the less likely they were to believe that American Christians should have the freedom of religion.

The survey found that while 78% of Republicans believe that Christians should have this freedom, only 41% percent of Democrats felt the same way. In fact, the same percentage of Democrats, 41%, believed that Christians should be forced to compromise their faith.

Among independents, a significant percentage, 61%, believed that Christians should be able to freely hold their views.

But the issue here is that we see pressure for Christians, particularly by those on the political left, to compromise their faith.

It is a pressure that will only increase as we approach the end time.

The book of Revelation was the Apostle John’s warning of events that would take place leading to the second coming of Christ. Because of that, I have often wondered if the messages to the seven churches in Revelation were prophetically warning of attacks that would come against the church at the end of the age.

If so, John is warning that one of the big concerns would not involve outside pressure, but rather the emergence of a spirit of compromise within the church. This would result in a theological compromise on issues of morality.

At the church of Thyatira, we are told that a woman named Jezebel, a prophetic voice within the church, rose up into a leadership role leading believers into sexual immorality:

“I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophet. By her teaching she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols”. (Revelation 2:20 ESV)

The individual was probably not named Jezebel, but it was a reference to the Phoenician princess, Jezebel, who married King Ahab and similarly brought idolatry into the country and even had idols set up inside the Jewish temple.

Not only would there be a wide range of compromises on issues of morality, it also included eating food sacrificed to idols which probably involved attending the licentious festivals for idols, also referenced in Revelation 2:14.

And while the church of Thyatira was commended for their faith and good works (Revelation 2:19), God had one thing against them, they permitted, literally allowed by ignoring, Jezebel to do her evil work inside the church.
