How Jesus appeared to a Muslim woman in a coma and healed her

There is a powerful testimony on Premier Christianity of how Jesus uniquely healed a Muslim woman, resulting in her whole family turning to Christ.

After a blood vessel ruptured in her brain, Jamila Darwish, a devout Muslim woman from Deir ez-Zor, Syria, was in a hospital, paralyzed on her right side and in a coma.

The doctor told the family to make preparations for a funeral because there was little hope of recovery.

But as she lay on her hospital bed, trapped in a body that refused to move, Jamila could still hear the conversations going around her. She heard her mother and sister crying after the doctor gave the news.

But as she lay in her comatose state, a strange thing happened. Jesus suddenly appeared to her bathed in bright light. At first, she thought it was a hallucination from the drugs she was on, but then Jesus touched her hand.

At that same moment, she heard her mother yell out that Jamila’s hand had moved. The doctor, who had missed the movement, checked Jamila but could find no indication of improvement.

The next thing, Jamila heard was a thud, as her mother passed out at the shock of what happened next.

Because in her comatose, dream state, Jamila had lifted her arm to Jesus, who was standing at the foot of her bed.

As her arm raised up, Jamila heard the doctor yelling out during the commotion caused by her unexpected arm movement and Jamila’s mother passing out from the shock.

Over the next few days, Jesus appeared to Jamila several more times, each time touching a different part of her body. The Lord touched her knee, healing her paralysis. The next day, she was able to move her head, but she still could not open her eyes or speak.

But then a few days later, as she was staring at Jesus during another vision, her eyes opened. As she came out of her coma, her father uttered the words in Arabic “God is Great,” crediting Allah for the healing.

But the room turned deathly silent, as the first words coming out of Jamila’s mouth were “Jesus, Jesus, don’t leave me! I love you,” as she saw Christ fading into the ceiling above her.

She was now completely healed.

Because of Syria’s civil war, Jamila, and her family, would eventually flee to Jordan. One day, at the market, Jamila saw a woman wearing a cross. After initiating contact, the woman led Jamila to Christ, who in turn led her whole Muslim fundamentalist family to the Lord, because of the miracle Jesus did in the Syrian hospital.

It is a fulfillment of a prophecy given by the Prophet Joel of the strange events that would take place, leading to the coming of the ‘great and dreadful Day of the Lord’.

Joel not only warned that it would be marked by an increase in volcanic activity, described by columns of smoke, fire, and blood, Joel added that simultaneously God would pour out His Holy Spirit on all flesh.

All flesh, means everyone, believers and nonbelievers alike.

And one of the strange consequences of this outpouring would be people having dreams and visions.

“And it shall come to pass afterward,
    that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh;
your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
your old men shall dream dreams,
and your young men shall see visions
29 Even on the male and female servants
in those days I will pour out my Spirit.
30 And I will show wonders in the heavens and on the earth, blood and fire and columns of smoke. 31 The sun shall be turned to darkness, and the moon to blood, before the great and awesome day of the Lord comes.
(Joel 2:28-31 ESV)

So as the world begins to shake in the physical realm, there will also be a shaking in the spiritual.
