My personal opinion is that the lockdowns are worse than the virus they are supposed to be fighting. Nevertheless, it annoys me when the politicians, who set the COVID restrictions, think they are above the law that the commoners must obey.
Meet California’s Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom.
The Blaze explains:
Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom has admitted it was probably not the best idea for him and his wife to join a large dinner party at one of the world’s finest restaurants while he is discouraging the citizens of his state from gathering with folks outside their own households during the upcoming holiday season.
The San Francisco Chronicle first reported that Newsom and his wife, first partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom, attended a recent dinner with a dozen people, involving “more households than California advises,” at the French Laundry — known as one of the most exclusive restaurants in the world.
Politico reported that the celebration was for “the 50th birthday of lobbyist Jason Kinney, a longtime friend.”
The Hill pointed out that “California’s current coronavirus guidelines prohibit gatherings that include more than three households,” according to the Chronicle. “Gatherings must also be held outside and should last no longer than two hours.”

And there is more hypocrisy, while politicians were telling Americans they shouldn’t have family Thanksgiving celebrations, Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was planning to hold a big party for “newly elected members of the lower chamber to Washington, D.C.” READ: House slammed over new member banquets as Americans are told to skip holiday gatherings with family
Of course, this is not the first time we have seen the hypocrisy of Nancy Pelosi when it comes to lockdowns. READ: San Francisco Salon Owner Says Nancy Pelosi Broke Lockdown Order For Blowout: ‘Just Disturbing’

Completely agree with you. My American niece celebrates her fiftieth birthday at the end of this year. The family had originally planned a get together to celebrate. Looks like she will be celebrating her birthday on her own. But more to the point these repeated infractions of the rules exposes that those enforcing the rules don’t really believe there is any danger – as do many ordinary people who are forced to obey.
