The Blaze reports that Italian doctors are saying the coronavirus is not as dangerous as it once was.
Italy was one of the countries the hardest hit by COVID and Milan one of the cites the hardest hit in Italy. So, when Dr. Alberto Zangrillo, who heads Milan’s San Raffaele Hospital, made the statement it caught people’s attention or should have.
Zangrillo said that the virus has lost its “potency” and is less lethal. He added that it basically doesn’t exist in Italy anymore. Though there are still new cases showing up worldwide, Zangrillo said this is due to more testing not the spread of the virus.
He added there is no reason for countries not to reopen and even questioned the lockdowns that were implemented because the virus was nowhere near as bad as the models predicted.
The news was confirmed by Dr. Matteo Bassetti, the head of the infectious disease department in Genoa, who told Reuters:
“The strength the virus had two months ago is not the same strength it has today.”
