Christian Post is reporting that Craig Gross who founded XXXchurch 17 years ago is leaving this ministry and turning it over a former porn star Brittni De La Mora and her husband Rich. XXXchurch is a ministry dedicated to helping people break free from their addiction to porn.

According a statement by Gross, seven years ago he helped Brittni leave the porn industry where she performed under the name of Jenna Presley. Four years later, Brittni met and married Rich who was pastoring a church at the time.

As he was contemplating leaving XXXchurch, Gross felt God impress on him that Brittni and Rich were to replace him. Gross added that this choice does not surprise him because Brittni is picture of God’s redemptive work.

In a post on Facebook, Brittni added that Craig and his wife Jeannette played a critical role in helping her break free from the porn industry:

“This is crazy! When I was in the adult film industry XXXchurch used to tell me that Jesus loves me. They gave me a Bible and all kinds of sweet gifts. When I left the adult industry seven years ago XXXchurch was there for me during my transition. I’ve always been grateful for the ministry and for those who selflessy gave to me, expecting nothing in return.

“Craig and Jeanette Gross have blessed my life in more ways than most people know because they have never boasted by what they’ve done for me.”

This should not surprise us because as Matthew was compiling the genealogy of Christ, the apostle included two women of questionable reputation in the Lord’s lineage.

The first was Tamar:

and Judah the father of Perez and Zerah by Tamar, (Matthew 1:3 ESV)

According to the story recorded in Genesis 38, Tamar  disguised herself as a temple prostitute and had sex with Judah who was actually Tamar’s father in law. As a result of this encounter she had two twin sons, Perez and Zerah, and Christ’s lineage came through Perez.

The second woman of interest is Rahab:

and Salmon the father of Boaz by Rahab (Matthew 1:5 ESV)

She worked as a prostitute in Jericho and when Joshua sent two spies to check out the town they took refuge in Rahab’s home. Two men entering the home of a known prostitute would not have raised suspicions in the city.  However, when they were eventually found out, Rahab hid the two men under flax stored in her home and later helped them escape.

Because of this, Rahab was allowed to join the nation of Israel and married a Jewish man named Salmon, a descendant of Perez (Joshua 2:1-14).

So like Brittni, Tamar and Rahab speak of the redemptive work of Christ.

However, Gross’s decision to leave XXXchurch is causing some controversy. He has started a ministry where he plans to promote the usage of marijuana among Christians. He also plans to sell the drug.

Though governments around the world are legalizing the recreational use of marijuana should Christians be using this drug?

Some would argue no.

In the New Testament, one of the Greek words commonly translated “sorcery” is “pharma” from which we get our English word pharmacy. The word initially referred to medicines, but by New Testament times was describing mind-altering drugs and sorcery. Since the word sorcery was associated with demonology, this suggests that the use of these type of drugs may open a person up to demonic attack.

The word pharma is found four times in the Book of Revelation suggesting it may be a prevalent problem in the end times (Revelation 9:21; 18:23; 21:8; and 22:15).
