“What then shall we say to this? If God is for us, who (can be) against us? Who can be our foe if God is on our side? (Romans 8:31)
It is so important to remind myself that God is always on my side and with me in everything I do. Whatever I face, God is for me and carries the heavier weight and authority in everything concerning my life.
When the teeter totter of life bounces me around, I know God is right beside me. He has the presence and authority to tip the scales in my favour and work everything out for my good.
King David understood this and his whole life was governed by a belief God was for him.
“The Lord is on my side, I will not fear. What can man do to me?” (Psalm 118:6)
I am learning to arm myself with the same attitude as Joshua who was aware of the presence and authority of God that he carried in every step he took into the land God promised Israel.
These were powerful words spoken to Joshua;
“Every place on which the sole of your foot treads, I have given it to you, just as I spoke to Moses. . . .Just as I have been with Moses, I will be with you; I will not fail you or forsake you. Be strong and courageous.” (Joshua 1:3, 6)
People who accomplished great things for God had this one common characteristic — they believed God was for them.
When I feel doubt or fear, I visualize God beside me, walking with me, step in step. He puts His foot down and walks with me through my day — in the very midst of my trials and testings.
The Lord is with me in the good times, bad times, in the valleys and on the mountains tops.
Knowing that the full weight of God’s presence and authority is in my every step has changed my perception of God.
Yet, as I step out in confidence and in faith there will be some shaking, as it often means stepping out of my comfort zone. Attempting things again where I failed in the past or trying something I haven’t done before or facing an unexpected challenge.
This is my journey.
There is territory to be reclaimed in our lives. There are unexpected and sometimes difficult circumstances that shake us up.
We may tremble, but the ground underneath our feet will also tremble and shake as we begin to understand the presence, power and authority of God that is in us and with us in every step of our journey through life.
Now you must take the next vital step and believe this.
