Worshiping the Lord
“The Lord God is my strength – he will make my feet like those of a deer, equipping me to tread on my mountain heights.” (Habakkuk 3:19)
Beautiful worship songs have brought God’s voice and presence to me these past few days. The Holy Spirit has entered into these songs and lifted my spirit and carried me to places of deep comfort and peace.
I don’t understand why I had a need for assurance this past while, but my restlessness in the night has reflected inner stirrings.
Through the lilting and uplifting notes of these songs God spoke, “I love you, you are mine, everything is as it should be, you are enough, you are more than enough”
For the past three days, I have woken in the middle of the night and played these songs over and over. I have danced in our living room, worshiped and prayed.
One night as I danced, I picked up my worship flags and as the flute played, I skipped, danced and floated over mountains, valleys and streams. I was a butterfly and God’s presence carried me to a place and space in my heart and mind that I cannot put words too.
Deep reassurances and inner groanings of my spirit enveloped me inwardly and outwardly as God’s presence covered me and carried me. The Bible talks about these inexpressible words and feelings of the heart as God’s Holy Spirit prays through us.
“Likewise, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know how we ought to pray, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings to deep for words.” (Romans 8:26 ISV)
Fear, doubt and insecurity crumbled at my feet as I danced and stomped to the beat of the drum fulfilling God’s promise:
‘You will tread on the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent.” (Psalm 91:13)
The voice of the Lord through music, song and dance has brought such healing to my heart, mind, body and spirit.
Many times, his voice and presence has broken the darkness and the whispers of the enemy of my soul restoring my hope, faith and confidence. In the night hours He has surrounded me and embraced me in His love and with songs of deliverance.
“For you are my hiding place, you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance” (Psalm 32:7)
