You may have seen a recent photo of a 67-year-old man duct-taped to a seat on a passenger jet after allegedly attacking a passenger. My wife saw it and thought it was AI, but it was very real.

The American Airlines flight from Dallas to Newark was forced to divert to Baltimore because of the incident.

In a recent YouTube video, prominent Christian author and speaker, Jonathan Cahn, said he was the one who was attacked.

Cahn was travelling home after doing interviews with the 700 Club and CBN about his newly released book, The Altar of Pergamon: The Mystery of the Dark Angel & the Future of the World.

At the last minute, Cahn’s seat got changed and he ended up sitting in first class with a man who initially was very friendly.

Cahn said in recent years he has experienced spiritual attacks whenever he releases a new book and was actually expecting something similar after the release of his latest book two days earlier.

But he was not expecting the way it happened this time.

Cahn pointed out that because the man was uttering the name of Jesus and vulgar, racist remarks, some media have portrayed him as a Christian.

Cahn said nothing could be further from the truth. Yes, the man was saying Jesus but he was cursing Christ.

The man was sitting to Cahn’s left on the window seat.

For about two hours, they had what could only be described as a very friendly conversation.

“In fact, the flight attendants thought we came together. We’re old friends,” Cahn said in an interview with CBN.

After taking his seat, Cahn started signing autograph stickers for his new book, that deals with the Altar of Satan mentioned in Revelation 2:13. The altar is now on display at a museum in Berlin, Germany.

The man started talking about how his wife loves reading books and was sure she would enjoy Cahn’s book. At this point, the man did not know that Cahn was a pastor and was writing religious material.

Cahn was originally hoping to get a lot of work done on the long flight, but realized that maybe the Lord wanted him to share his faith with this fellow passenger instead.

Cahn then opened up about being a pastor and asked about his spiritual condition.

The man said that he had gone to church when he was younger, but rejected it because he was being judged by religious hypocrites.

Cahn replied that those hypocrites who judged him weren’t Jesus. Jesus didn’t come to judge and condemn people, but to save them. He then shared how people needed to be born again.

At this point, the conversation was still friendly and the man seemed to be listening to what he had to say.

When the man asked how Cahn knew God was real, Cahn, who is a Jew, shared how he was originally an atheist, but became a Christian after reading about how end times prophecy, such as the rebirth of Israel as a nation, was being fulfilled.

Cahn then shared two powerful stories about how God revealed Himself.

One was about the first book he wrote called The Harbinger. He had finished writing it, but he didn’t have a publisher.

He was sitting at an airport, when a man, he didn’t know, miraculously connected Cahn with a publisher.

He then shared how he and his wife met and how she had received two prophetic words that she would marry a Jewish minister.

As soon as he shared those two stories, the man instantly changed.

“I never seen anything like this switch,” Cahn said. “His face changes. His voice changes. He speaks to me like he’s whispering a secret to me.”

The man allegedly said, “bull@%&$”

“Are you saying I made it up”” Cahn asked.

The man repeated what he had said and then he allegedly started cursing and blaspheming Christ and God. He started getting loud and was disrupting people near them.

Then he asked two women sitting in front of them if they believed in Jesus.

At this point, the flight attendants tried to settle him down. The man switched again and was back to being friendly.

At this point, Cahn realized he needed to break free from the conversation and turned back to work on his computer.

His computer on which he wrote The Altar of Pergamon had been acting up. Though it was still working, there was a black mark across the screen.

When the man saw the black mark he asked what was going on. He tapped Cahn’s computer and the black mark spread well over half the screen.

It glitched and an image of his latest book appeared in the corner where the screen was still working.

The man saw the book cover that portrays a dark angel with the words, The Altar of Pergamon, overlayed on top.

“He starts getting excited,” Cahn alleged. “He starts shouting and saying, ‘What did you do? What did you do?’ Looking at the book, like, why did you write that book?”

“Then it starts escalating,” Cahn continued. “He [allegedly] says, ‘I’m going to punch your $%#@ Jewish face in.”

Concerned the situation was potentially turning violent, Cahn motioned to the flight attendants for help.

The man then allegedly started hitting Cahn in the chest. Not hard and not with a closed fist. It seemed he was trying to provoke a reaction.

Cahn then got the distinct impression that this man was targeting the computer on which he wrote the book.

Cahn, who was sitting in the aisle seat, closed his computer and stood up to leave. As he was doing this, the man allegedly lunged and grabbed the computer and the two were now wrestling over Cahn’s laptop.

“I had just preached on Sunday, you know, at Beth Israel, my congregation. I preached that we wrestle not with flesh and blood. We wrestle with principalities in the high places,” Cahn said. “So now I’m wrestling in the high places, 30,000 feet up, and we’re going back and forth and finally I wrestled it out of [his grip].”

After losing the computer, the man then grabs Cahn’s arm.

At this moment, two men, who were sitting a couple of seats up, stood up. One of them was a retired police officer. They approach the man to calm the situation and he allegedly attacked them.

They were able to subdue the man and were given duct tape to restrain him until they landed in Baltimore, where he was taken into custody by the FBI.

While the media portrayed the incident as a mental health breakdown, Cahn wonders if this was a demonic attack provoked by the release of his book. He added the spiritual realm is real and demons are real.

The Bible does record incidents of demonically inspired violence. Matthew writes that the demon-possessed men in the Gerasenes “were so extremely violent that no one could pass by that way” (Matthew 8:28). Luke records the incident of seven Jewish exorcist —sons of Sceva — who were violently attacked after failing to cast out an evil spirit using Jesus’ name (Acts 19:11-20).
