One World Religion. Are you worried? 

Some people, that I know, are concerned about One World Government. They believe we are being pushed into a world dictatorship, and we need to beware. One part of this is a religion that is acceptable to the people in control, and it will be a replacement for whatever we believe now.

We should know, that one of the main reference sources for these ideas is the Christian Bible. There are several Bible references to powers that will emerge in the world, at the end of “this age.” That means at the time when humans will choose a radical direction for politics and religion, just before God intervenes and takes control. 

We call the intervention of God the “Second Coming.” For Christians, the first coming was when Jesus was born. The second event will be when He returns to take control. It is important for us to understand why we, or other people that we know, see history happening in our daily news. That has a strong influence on modern politics.

One of the sources, in the Bible, for a belief in trouble coming into our world, and soon, is the Bible book of 1 Thessalonians and chapter 2:

Now concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together to him. (verse 1) …  That day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction. (verse 3)

Another source is the words of Jesus, in the Bible book of Matthew and chapter 24:

You will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are but the beginning of the birth pains. (verses 6 to 8) …  There will be great tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, and never will be. If those days had not been cut short, no human being would be saved. (verses 21 and 22)

And then there is the one religion. In the last book of the Bible, Revelation, we have a description of what we commonly call the “Antichrist.” This is the link between one government and one religion. Probably the best source for this information is Revelation chapter 13:

And I saw a beast rising out of the sea. (verse 1)  …  the beast was given a mouth uttering haughty and blasphemous words, and it was allowed to exercise authority for forty-two months. It opened its mouth to utter blasphemies against God. (verses 5 and 6)

I have extracted a few words, from these chapters, and there are other places in the Bible that refer to some dangerous future events. If you want to know more, I encourage you to read more in those chapters. 

So, what should we think?

I don’t know what you believe, and you don’t have to agree with me to read this. I am sure that we should be informed before we form an opinion, and who doesn’t agree with that? At least, we can and should understand where other people are coming from, with their modern ideas.

Here is an example of a Christian, who sees the possibility of One World Religion, in things that are happening today: 

It should be clear that his judgment is based on information that the speaker has received. If we think about it, most doomsday thinking, with pessimism about the future, is based originally on the Bible. Most other religions, that do not refer to the Bible, do not encourage belief in the terrible “End Times.” That is taught in the Bible.

Personally, I am amazed at the possibilities, in modern times. 

Ideas, in the Bible, that could be dismissed as religious fairy tales, one generation ago, are now quite possible. For example, with inventions like the Internet, we can easily experience something that is one-world. I am sitting on my couch and writing this, and I have no idea who will read these words, or where or when. My words will go out into the world.

We live in an amazing new world, in our generation.

Human beings have resources now, that can bring amazing improvements to our world. For some reason, on this amazing Internet invention, we see many pictures of kittens and puppies, but there is also great potential for a better world. That can be said about so many of our modern inventions, including computer generated AI or artificial intelligence. 

We could make the world so much better. 

On the other side, human corruption has the same power to make the world so much worse.

Those old Bible stories are now a realistic possibility. One World Religion, tied to One World Government are now realistic possibilities. Ideas from two thousand years ago are becoming common conversation topics. 

We should think seriously about that.
