A recent Gallup Poll found that less than half of Americans stated they are ‘very satisfied’ with their lives. This makes it one of the lowest percentages to state this since Gallup started asking this question in 1979 as part of its annual ‘Mood of the Nation Poll,’ the Christian Post reports.
The 47% who stated they are ‘very satisfied’ is a dramatic drop from the 90% who stated they were in Gallup’s January 2020 poll.
It was only the third time, that percentage dropped below 50% in the past 45 years.
Still, the 2024 percentage was marginally higher than the lowest recorded percentage of 46% in 2011 and tied the 47% recorded in 2008.
The poll found that there were still subsets within America where over 50% stated they were ‘very satisfied’ including those who were religious, married, or earned a higher income.
Gallup believes the level of dissatisfaction is in part a reflection of the country’s economy.
