He was expected to die after being shot in the head while preaching on a street corner in Glendale, Arizona, but Hans Schmidt, 26, is now home, the Christian Post reports.

On November 15, 2023, Hans, the director of outreach for Victory Chapel First Phoenix, was preaching at a street corner when he was shot in the head by an unknown assailant.

Hans regularly preached at this busy location, just before the evening services at Victory Chapel.

Video of the incident shows Hans stumbling and falling, but then getting back up on his feet, unaware he had been shot.

He returned to the church and was only sent to the hospital after he began vomiting and experiencing seizures.

When he arrived even doctors were unaware he had been shot until they conducted scans.

Because of the location of the bullet, the surgeon stated it could not be removed, and the family was told that Hans was not expected to live.

As news of the shooting circulated, people from around the world began praying for Hans.

In a recent Instagram Post, Hans’ wife Zulya shared about his remarkable recovery and return home after nearly three months in the hospital.

“We serve a miracle-working God. He walks, he talks, he even plays the drums,” Zulya shared. “God has done an incredible work in Hans’ life, and every day, he continues to improve. Please continue to pray for a full restoration.”
