While it may not be the mountain-sized asteroid that the Apostle John warned would hit the earth during the apocalyptic end times (Revelation 8:8-9), NASA is still curious.
Curious enough that it’s sending one of its deep space satellites, OSIRIS-APEX, to check out an asteroid known as Apophis or the God of Chaos that is scheduled to brush past Earth on April 13, 2029, the New York Post reports.
Yes, that is a Friday.
God of Chaos is about 370 yards (0.34 km) across, or over nearly four times larger than a football field. I am not sure if it qualifies as the Apostle John’s mountain-sized asteroid that will slam into one of the world’s oceans, but it is getting there.
What is concerning is that the God of Chaos will pass within 20,000 miles (ca. 32,187 km) of Earth that ominous Friday, which is closer than some satellites that we have orbiting earth. It will also be close enough to be impacted by Earth’s gravity.
OSIRIS-APEX is scheduled to meet up with the God of Chaos about two weeks before it passes by Earth.
