Homeless man searching a garbage bin

Every year at Thanksgiving, Eric Johns, who pastors the Buffalo Dream Center in Buffalo, NY lives on the streets like other homeless people, Jenny Spaudo writes in her article for Charisma News.

Even if the weather is horrible, Johns, who typically stays out for a week, will spend the nights sleeping under an overpass. During the day, he will join the homeless for meals at the city’s soup kitchens.

Johns has been doing this for 21 years and according to an article on Spectrum News, he does it for two reasons.

First, he uses it to raise awareness for the homeless and also to raise money and donations (food and clothing) for the church’s Boxes of Love program.

This year, his two sons, aged 15 and 16, will be joining him out on the streets and his dad may also join them as well for a couple of days.
