I will display wonders in the sky and on the earth, Blood, fire, and columns of smoke.31 The sun will be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the great and awesome day of the Lord comes. (Joel 2: 30-31 NASV)

The government of Iceland has just evacuated the town of Grindavik because of growing concerns that a volcano in the area will soon erupt, Fox News reports.

Located along the Southwest coast of Iceland, Grindavik is a small fishing village of 3,300 residents.

There were several telltale signs that an eruption may be imminent.

First, there have been reports of thousands of earthquakes in the region suggesting that lava is moving beneath the surface of the earth.

Along with this, over the past couple of weeks, there has been severe deforming of the land surface referred to as a ‘dike’ indicating that pressure is building up beneath the surface.

But that deforming has dramatically slowed which would indicate that the lava is now traveling to the surface.

Researchers estimated that on Saturday (Nov. 11, 2023), the Magna was less than a half-mile below the surface.

Fox News adds that Iceland’s Met Office stated that “there is a ‘significant likelihood’ of a volcanic eruption in the coming days.”

Iceland’s famed hot springs, Blue Lagoon, located near the town, has also been closed after there were reports of 1,400 earthquakes in a 24-hour period.

According to Fox News, Iceland has 30 active volcanos.

As stated in the verse cited at the beginning of this post, Joel warned that one of the signs that would precede Christ’s second coming was the appearance of columns (plural) of smoke accompanied by fire and blood (death). Columns of smoke are the iconic symbol of volcanos.
