A judge has just ruled that a Christian preschool in Colorado is still eligible for government funding even though it hires only believers to fill positions and holds Biblical beliefs on sexuality, the Christian Post reports.

The preliminary judgment in favor of Darren Patterson Christian Academy (DCPA) was issued last week. DCPA took the Colorado government to court after it refused to provide funding to the preschool because of its anti-discrimination laws.

The school which was represented by Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) argued that it was actually the government that was discriminating against the school as other non-religious preschools are eligible for funding.

In issuing the preliminary injunction, the court noted that the academy would ultimately win the case because based on the First Amendment the government cannot discriminate against individuals or organizations because of their religious beliefs.

In its statement acknowledging the victory, ADF added that “the government cannot force religious schools to abandon their beliefs … to participate in a public benefit program that everyone else can access.”
