California’s Monterey County school district has settled with a single mother for $100,000 after she successfully sued the district for secretly socially transitioning her daughter to a male student, The Blaze reports.

The school did this without the mother’s knowledge or consent.

Jessica Konen’s daughter was 11 years old at the time, when her grade seven teachers began secretly treating her as a male, implementing male pronouns and allowing her to use the boy’s bathroom.

Not only did the teachers not inform the mother that they were doing this, but they also failed to tell Konen that her child was having suicidal thoughts.

After this betrayal of trust, Konen has since decided to homeschool her daughter.

The Blaze provides more details:

Court papers revealed that Alicia had found remote learning difficult but that there was “a silver lining” when she was “no long in the clutches” of the school officials who had encouraged her to transition.

“Freed from their influence [Alicia] began to return to her old self,” it noted. […]

“If you choose not to fight for your children, then they will fight and take your children,” Konen stated. “Stand up, parents, it’s your right to be able to parent your own children.”

PS: In its settlement with Konen, the school district did not admit fault.
