Everyone, except woke politicians, knew the idea was completely ludicrous. But it seems that Swedish politicians have finally come to their senses and are abandoning the notion of the country going 100% renewable energy, The Blaze reports.
On June 20, the newly elected right-leaning government announced a policy shift that will see it moving away from renewable energy to nuclear. It plans to build several new nuclear power plants, doubling its electrical output from nuclear.
The left-wing political elites had previously decided that they were going to have the country functioning with 100% renewable energy by 2040. This decision included shuttering nuclear and fossil fuel power plants.
Of course, renewable energy such as wind and solar only works when the sun is shining and the wind is blowing.
A comprehensive study of Sweden’s energy needs in 2021 revealed that wind and sun were not going to meet the demand no matter how many solar panels and windmills were built. When the wind isn’t blowing it doesn’t matter how many windmills you have standing idle.
If they went fully renewable, the study revealed even in the best-case scenarios, there would be hundreds of hours with no electricity, which would be dangerous in a country that experiences a cold winter for months on end.
This move to renewables was also being compounded by Sweden’s rapidly increasing energy demands sparked in part by the government’s push for its citizens to use electricity instead of fossil fuels.
