Choose amputation? What are we born to be?

Did you know there are people who believe they should be disabled?

Do an Internet search with words like “trans” and “disabled” or just “transabled” or the psychological term BIID “Body Integrity Identity Disorder.” Be warned before you do any research. Doctor Phil had a guest who made herself blind.

For people who identify as trans-disabled, there is a strong sense that they should remove a limb, paralyze themselves, or destroy their eyesight. One man cut off an arm with a saw, and he felt good about his decision. The blind woman on the Doctor Phil Show believed in what she was doing.

Here is one video of a young person in Scotland who chose to amputate a leg:

So, what is happening? Why are people like this?

The term “trans” is a clue. We have many people, in our modern culture who believe that they should be something, and they need to make a change.

There are also people who want to identify as an animal. Two common terms are “Otherkin” and “Furries” and yes, this is a popular topic in some elementary schools:

If we don’t use emotional arguments and say ‘those people are crazy’, what is left? What can anyone say as our culture changes?

Many have strong opinions about this, but I think we should stay away from outraged arguments. We have too many of those already. We can all agree, that we have many people who want to “come out” and be who they are supposed to be; who they identify as.

I am writing as a Christian, and there is a problem with our modern culture, for people like me. This is either philosophy or theology, the foundation of our thinking.

Here is a question: Are you the person that you were born to be? Do you feel comfortable being the person that other people know?

Many people will answer no.

Do you want to change who you are?

Many people will answer yes.

Speaking as a Christian, a follower of Jesus, I was not born to be who I am. I was born to be the opposite of what I am, and I made a decision. I also believe in God, who forgave me and made me into his child, when I asked.

I didn’t “come out” I came into something new. Change is possible.

The Bible told us about this two thousand years ago:

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! (2 Corinthians 5:17)

In our modern culture, we now have two ways to salvation: Pray and ask God to help us / or / Discover who we really are, and “come out.”

What we have, is the beginning of a cultural war. People are living with basic contradictions to others.

I am convinced that every believer must know who and what we are, as the world around us changes. We need to go back to the foundations, and we may pay a price for our convictions.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. (John 3: 16 to 18)
