Christian Aid Ministries (CAM) reported that three more missionaries, of the 17 missionaries and their families kidnapped on October 16, 2021 in Haiti by 400 Mowozo gang, have been released.

The gang had previously released two of the missionaries on Nov. 21, 2021 because of health issues, and this leaves 12 still being held hostage.

According to CBN, the missionary organization provided the following statement about the release of the three hostages:

We are thankful to God that three more hostages were released last night. Those who were released are safe and seem to be in good spirit. As with the previous release, we are not able to provide the names of the people released, the circumstances of the people released, or any other information.”

Previous reports stated that the gang led by William Joseph, who also goes by the name Death without Days, was asking for a $1 million ransom for the release of each of the hostages.

CAM is calling for a time of prayer and fasting over the next three days for the safe return of the remaining missionaries still held captive.

Fasting increases our authority

Fasting is one of the often unused weapons in a Christian’s spiritual arsenal. When done properly, in other words secretly, it seems to increase the authority and power of our prayers:

Is not this the fast that I choose:
to loose the bonds of wickedness,
to undo the straps of the yoke,
to let the oppressed go free,
    and to break every yoke?
(Isaiah 58:6 ESV)
