“The Lord will go forth like a mighty man, He will rouse up His zealous indignation and vengeance like a warrior; He will cry, yes, He will shout aloud, He will do mightily against His enemies.” (Isaiah 42:13)

I have been hesitant to share what I experienced during a time of intercession recently. Over the years my friend, Linda, and I have gone to the park surrounding our provincial legislature to pray and intercede for the things the Lord has impressed upon us.

Prophetic acts have become a part of these times of intercession for our city, province and nation. We have planted seeds of faith, struck a sword in the ground, worshiped with flags and music and more.

The beautiful park that surrounds the legislative buildings also includes a lake at its center.  The park also has monuments, fountains and beautiful flowers landscaping the area.

We have prayed in this park many times over the years, when we have felt a call to pray into a season or events with scripture verses and declarations. Often as we walk along the lake shore we will feel impressed to stop at a particular spot or monument or buildings to pray for something specific that has come to our minds.

Now, I want to share what happened a few days ago.

As we walked along the pathway that follows the shoreline of the lake, Linda thought we should pull over into the shade beside the statue of a little girl representing the horrific man-made famine that engulfed the Ukraine during World War I.

We set up camp and began to play our recorded worship music,  I started dancing and worshiping with red and white flags around the statue of this impoverished little girl.  Linda also worshiped with flags and began to pray and intercede.

The verse that prompted this time of prayer came from Psalms 24 that speaks about opening the gates of heaven so God can enter in:

Lift up your heads, O you gates!
And be lifted up, you everlasting doors!
And the King of glory shall come in. (Psalm 24:7 NKJV)

I moved into the wide open space along the shoreline of the lake behind the ‘orphan statue.’  The city, the lake and open skies, lay before me. The orphan statue was behind me and the legislative buildings behind her.

As Linda continued to pray, I danced and worshiped with my flags and sensed I was opening up the gates of the city, with the movement of my flags opening up to heaven.

Suddenly, out of the sky I saw an object rushing towards me.

To my amazement, I saw a helmeted warrior charging forward with a spear thrust out coming towards me.  It was so startling, that I actually moved to the side to get out of his way as he rode past me oblivious to my presence.

He was intense, leaning forward with his spear and moving fast like he was leading a charge. I noticed that his armor and mount were gray and mottled in appearance. Behind him in the distance I saw clouds of dust rising as if a large army was following him.

I shared this with Linda and two days later with a friend who has moved in the prophetic for years, and he mentioned seeing similar visions in the past of  a rider in gray armor covered with the dust and dirt of warfare. He said shining armor is reserved for parades, but beat up, dirty armor reflects a soldier in battle.

This reassured me because I was starting to question what I had seen.  In my heart, I knew that I had not made this up because I had only been worshiping with my flags and not really trying to perceive anything.

But there are times when God reveals what is taking place in the spiritual realm. When Elisha and his servant were surrounded by the enemy of God, Elisha prayed for the eyes of his servant to be opened, so he could see God’s angelic host and chariots of fire that revealed the intense battle taking place in the spiritual realm.

¹⁷ And Elisha prayed, and said, “Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. (2 Kings 6:17 NKJV)

This spiritual battle changed what ultimately took place in the physical realm.

I believe God wants to engage in battle with demonic forces and it is not coincidence that what I saw took place near our legislature. But the Lord needs people to rise up in prayer for their city, province or state and country.
