The real reason the media and atheists mock Christians — cowardice

The real reason atheists and the media mock Christians!

What is the real reason for the media’s and atheists obsession with criticizing Christianity?

In an interview with atheist Phil Zukerman expressed his opinion on why the media has so actively mocked Christians while giving Muslims a free ride.

Zukerman is a professor at Pitzer College where he teaches secular studies. He also writes a blog where he actively criticizes Christianity and Judaism. The Gospel Herald reported on the interview.

According to Zukerman the reason is very simple — cowardice. The media are terrified of Muslim extremists and possible physical retaliation so instead they mock and deride Christians.

Zukerman said Muslims treatment of women and gays is much more “problematic,” but the media will not say a word.

The professor even admitted as an atheist he criticizes Christianity and ignores Islam for the same reason because he fears for his family.

In the interview he stated:

“I would never write the same kind of stuff that I do about certain religions — Judaism, Christianity, LDS — that I would about Islam because of straight up fear.”

Gospel Herald also pointed to a recent interview host Bill Maher had with atheist Richard Dawkins who said much the same thing describing Muslims as a “protected species.”

Dawkins cited a decision by Warwick University’s student union who cancelled a speech by Maryam Namazie, an atheist who criticizes Muslim extremists. They would not allow her to speak declaring it as racist.

Dawkins said Islam is not a race. But it is a convenient way to hide the real reason for banning the speech — cowardice.

Maher even commented about the reaction from Liberals when you criticize the niqab, the veil that some tribal groups require women to wear in public. He said the left freaks out “if you say something about a woman who is forced to wear a bee-keeper’s suit in the hot sun all day.”

Can you imagine the feminist uproar if a church required women to cover their face before entering a church, much less out in public?

In the past, Dawkins has publicly criticized Islam and when he does his greatest critics are not Muslims but rather the left leaning media and even other atheists. I wrote an article about a tweet that Dawkins made in 2013 where he said that Trinity college had more Nobel prize winners than all of Muslims combined.

The reaction was immediate and swift as celebrities, atheists and liberals lined up to accuse Dawkins of racism. If he had said that about Southern Baptists, would they have reacted the same way?

As young teenager, I grew up on a Indian reserve. One of my best friends was a native boy named Albert. I can’t remember the conflict that was going on, but I will never forget his words. He said:

“Dean, cowards run in packs.”

As a Christian when you feel mocked, remember for the most part it’s coming from cowards with a touch of bullying. In his article on Psychology Today, Preston Ni writes in his article on bullying:

The most important thing to keep in mind about bullies is that they pick on those whom they perceive as weaker, so as long as you remain passive and compliant, you make yourself a target. Many bullies are also cowards on the inside.

But in the midst of this, as Christians we need to find our courage. In the book of Revelation, the Apostle John saw a new breed of Christians emerging — ones who faced down persecution, because they did not fear death.

11 And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death. (Revelation 12:11 NASV)
