Masterpiece Bakeshop is back in court again

Jack Phillips, a Christian baker based in Lakewood, Colorado, is back in court again after a transgender woman asked his company, Masterpiece Cakeshop, to make a cake celebrating her transition to a woman, CBN reports. The shop had initially agreed to make the cake, but then changed its mind, when told about the intent of the cake. The transgender woman took the shop to the Colorado Human Rights Commission which ruled the baking company had violated the transgender woman’s rights by refusing to make the cake. Phillips, who is being represented by Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), stated in the first court case that he did not agree with the idea that a person could change genders, After losing the initial court challenge, Phillips is appealing to Colorado’s Supreme Court arguing that people should not be forced to support or promote views that they do not agree with, calling it a violation of a person’s free speech. ADF noted: “No American should be bullied or banished from the marketplace simply for living and working consistently with …

Was PayPal planning to fine users $2,500 for disinformation?

PayPal has abruptly changed its mind stating it will not fine users up to $2,500 if they post information the California-financial services corporation does not agree with. The Daily Wire was the first to report that PayPal had introduced a policy stating it would fine users up to $2,500 if they posted information that PayPal considered false. The Daily Wire provides more details: The financial services company, which has repeatedly deplatformed organizations and individual commentators for their political views, announced Saturday, one day after The Daily Wire story broke, that the announcement went out in error. “An [Accepted Use Policy] notice recently went out in error that included incorrect information,” a PayPal spokesperson said. “PayPal is not fining people for misinformation and this language was never intended to be inserted in our policy. We’re sorry for the confusion this has caused.”[…] The report sparked outrage online, with many people tweeting pledges to dump the online payment facilitator. Particularly chilling was the fact that the policy said determinations of what could be deemed “misinformation,” or a …

Study: Excessive social media leads to depression

Researchers from the Public Policy Program at the University of Arkansas concluded that people who spend an excessive amount of time on social media are more likely to show high levels of depression six months later than those who don’t, Study Finds reports. Curiously, despite displaying high degrees of success and positivity in their posts, months later many were struggling with depression. The researchers came to this conclusion after studying 1,000 people between the ages of 18 and 30 in 2018. Study Finds reports: “Regardless of personality type, social media use increased the risk for future depression diagnoses. However, people who rated high in agreeableness were 49 percent less likely to become depressed than people with low agreeableness. When people with high neuroticism — being in a negative or anxious emotional state — spent over five hours on social media (300 minutes), they were twice as likely to develop depression than others.“ The researchers concluded that the depression was caused because people were comparing themselves to others who were also posting the highlights of their lives or when they …

Are you Conspiritual? Are we being lied to?

Since 2011, we have had a new word, in English “Conspiritual.” Any description of these ideas is probably negative, from people who don’t like them. New ideas start on the “fringe” and mainstream, and powerful people usually criticize and reject them. Over time, ideas on the fringe grow and become more popular, and they can even become mainstream thinking; truth for most of us. So, expect negative sneering, for now, and more enthusiasm later: We should know what is happening, in our world, and we should know what will happen soon; what is growing. This is not a conspiracy theory, new ideas are growing all the time, and some of them will be very powerful. Brace yourself. Conspiracy – We know what conspiracy theories are. When some important event happens, we might think that some sinister group is using its power, and manipulating events for some secret reason. Right now, we have conspiracy theories about the destruction of natural gas pipelines in Europe. We have many conspiracy theories about the COVID Pandemic, including the idea …

She changed her mind about the abortion, but the doctor refused to stop

The Daily Wire recently reported on the horrific details of an abortion, that Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO), had when she was a teen. In an interview with PBS, Bush said that before the procedure started, Bush had changed her mind and told the abortion staff several times that she no longer wanted the abortion, stating that she wasn’t ready. However, Bush alleges that the nurses and doctor refused to listen to her request and conducted the abortion anyway. It was Bush’s second abortion. Report: Biden’s extremist policies have cut oil production in the US by 3 million barrels a day

According to a report by the Committee to Unleash Prosperity, President Joe Biden’s oil and gas policies are as much the reason for the recent escalation in gas prices as OPEC+’s decision to cut oil production, Breitbart reports. There was a dramatic rise in gas prices across North America recently, after OPEC+, which includes Russia, announced it would be reducing oil production by two million barrels a day. However, the committee countered that if Biden’s policies had maintained the direction of the previous administration, the increased oil production in the US would have more than countered this OPEC+ cut. The group estimated that Biden’s extreme environmental policies done in the name of climate change have reduced US oil production by upwards of three million barrels a day. Breitbart provides more details: According to the study, Biden’s war on American energy will cost the United States nearly $100 billion in output every year, which translates to between two and three million barrels of oil a day, the same amount of production OPEC+ cut Wednesday. Yet Biden …

Poll: Teens more open to Christ than many realize

A recent poll conducted by the Barna Group discovered that a significant percentage of teens around the world have a favorable impression of Jesus, Premier Christian News reports. Barna, a national American-based research group, conducted the survey of 25,000, 13 to 17 years olds in 26 countries, on behalf of several Christian groups, including Alpha, Biblical and World Vision. It was a surprising result considering that only 22% of those surveyed expressed having made a personal commitment to Christ. This meant that though 78% may not have been Christians, many still looked upon Christ positively: Based on these survey results, it’s obvious that Jesus needs to be front a center in all our ministry activities. “Our data suggests that although this generation may not deeply engage with Jesus,” David Kinnaman, CEO of Barna Group said. “They are open to him, and when they do engage, they experience positive effects. It is our goal to offer a picture of the rising generation to the Global Church so that we may support and engage teens in relevant, …

Will rising crime rates become a major issue in US midterms?

According to a recent poll, the dramatically rising crime rates across America are increasingly becoming a major election issue for the upcoming midterms in November 2022. The poll, conducted by Politico in late September and early October 2022, found that the vast majority of those surveyed labelled crime as a major problem: Most are blaming the Democrat’s soft-on-crime approach to justice, which included an end to cash bail, for the rise in crime. Breitbart reports: In Colorado, Democrats passed a law in 2020 that made it easier to sue a police officer directly and added more restrictions on officers. The state also has the third highest crime rate in the country while leading the county in car thefts. In Illinois, Democrats passed the SAFE-T Act, which eliminated cash bail even though law enforcement warned that the legislation would lead to a bigger crime surge. The state also leads the country in carjackings. […] In New York, Democrat lawmakers in 2019 eliminated cash bail. Just in New York City this year, auto theft is up 42 …

US debt hits $31,000,000,000,000 (trillion)

According to reports, the debt of the US Federal government just surpassed $31 trillion this year. This is the highest level it has ever been and nearly $8 trillion was added to the debt since Joe Biden became president in 2020. Of course, this is now being compounded by higher interest rates that are being raised in an effort to combat inflation. These higher interest payments will need to be paid with either higher taxes and/or reduced government spending. CBN explains: Owen Zidar, a Princeton economist, explains that rising interest rates will exacerbate the nation’s growing debt issues and make the debt itself more costly. The Federal Reserve has raised rates several times this year in an effort to tamp down inflation. “I think the point here is if you weren’t worried about the debt before, you should be — and if you were worried before, you should be even more worried,” Zidar said.
