Cannabis use up 20% in states where it legalized

A new study by the University of Minnesota is warning that the use of cannabis has risen 20% in states such as California and Oregon that have legalized the recreational use of the drug, The Daily Mail reports. The research team noted that along with its legalization, producers are now creating more potent varieties of Marijuana and the study warned that it is an “addictive substance associated with negative health and psychosocial outcomes.” The main push from the activists and politicians justifying the legalization of Marijuana is that it is a ‘safe’ drug. The Daily Mail also interviewed former White House drug advisor, Kevin Sabet, who said the current promoters of cannabis used the same spin as the tobacco industry decades back, who conned the public by promoting it as a safe activity. The Daily Mail explains: ‘Legalization proponents promised everything from lower drug use to a reduced illicit market and tax revenue that would outweigh costs,’ said Sabet, also president of the campaign group Smart Approaches to Marijuana. ‘None of that has been fulfilled, …

One city has seen its murder rate plummet, I wonder why?

While cities across America are reporting sharp increases in murders, Miami, is reporting a dramatic decrease. There have been only 28 murders so far this year, and it’s on its way to having the lowest murder rate since the 1930s. In an interview with Tucker Carlson, Miami’s mayor, Francis Suarez, explains why. He cited several things: The city increased funding for police and hired more police, They have lowered taxes, which has resulted in more growth and more jobs, and the city now have a 1.4% unemployment rate. And, oh yeah, when out-of-town rioters came to Miami to loot and plunder, the police showed up in force to nip it in the bud, so they went elsewhere. Meanwhile, in New York City For those who don’t know, Ana Kasparian is a member of the ‘Young Turks’ a left-wing media site, and even she has become horrified by the crime in New York City and cited one example. She was immediately attacked by those on the woke, extreme-left, because the real victim is the criminal.

The failure of lockdowns

A couple of stories suggest that the lockdowns may have done more damage to people, that the COVID pandemic they didn’t stop. From this study: Are Lockdowns Effective in Managing Pandemics?: The price tag of lockdowns in terms of public health is high: by using the known connection between health and wealth, we estimate that lockdowns may claim 20 times more life years than they save. It is suggested therefore that a thorough cost-benefit analysis should be performed before imposing any lockdown for either COVID-19 or any future pandemic. And from a British newspaper, The Telegraph: August seems a tad early for the NHS winter crisis but, apparently, it’s never too soon to start warning people not to use their health service. To be fair, we only spend £136 billion a year on it and they have got one of the world’s biggest bureaucracies to look after, fleets of luxury cars to subsidise for staff etc, so it would be entirely unreasonable to expect any treatment. You do have to marvel, though, at the brass …

What’s really happening with hurricanes?

The climate change fanatics blame everything on man-made global warming these days, but they are running into problems. The propagandists have used hurricanes as their whipping boy on man-made climate change, but the facts are telling a different story. In his article, “What the media won’t tell you about hurricanes”, Roger Pielke Jr explains: 1. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, in its latest report, concluded that there remains “no consensus” on the relative role of human influences on Atlantic hurricane activity. Here is what the IPCC says exactly: “[T]here is still no consensus on the relative magnitude of human and natural influences on past changes in Atlantic hurricane activity, and particularly on which factor has dominated the observed increase (Ting et al., 2015) and it remains uncertain whether past changes in Atlantic TC activity are outside the range of natural variability.” READ: What the media won’t tell you about hurricanes Once something turns political, the truth becomes expendable.

When the Holy Spirit falls upon people: Ex-gay Hollywood designer explains how this helped lead him to Jesus

We read throughout the Bible of times that the Holy Spirit fell upon people and each time something unusual happened as there were outward manifestations: As we move into the New Testament, there is a shift because of Christ’s perfect redemption the Holy Spirit is now able to permanently reside inside us (1 Corinthians 6:19). But there were still instances of the Holy Spirit falling upon people, as took place on the Day of Pentecost. The same thing happened to a group of gentiles at the home of Cornelius as Peter was preaching. The Holy Spirit also fell on them, and they began speaking in tongues: 15 As I [Peter] began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell on them just as on us at the beginning. (Acts 11:15 ESV). When the Holy Spirit falls upon people, something invariably happens, and a similar event laid the groundwork for Becket Cook, a Hollywood designer, to become a Christian, Faithwire reports. Becket was an influential designer in Hollywood, and had worked for major stars such as Oprah, Paris Hilton …

Will the ‘green’ delusion ever end?

It is difficult to grasp how reckless politicians and bureaucrats become when they have been deluded by the global warming environmental cult. READ: The cult of global warming With Germany facing a major energy crisis this winter due largely to its move to green energy compounded by the Russia Ukraine war, the country is still moving ahead to close down the last of its nuclear power plants. The Daily Wire provides more details: Germany will likely proceed with shutting down its three remaining nuclear power plants despite an uncertain supply of gas ahead of the winter season, economy minister Robert Habeck said on Sunday. […] Habeck dismissed concerns of gas shortages by assuring the public that “we have a really good chance of getting through the winter” if households and businesses cut energy usage by 15% to 20%. Nevertheless, Habeck is open to keeping one plant open in the manufacturing region of Bavaria depending on the results of a stress test on the German power system. He asserted that Germany must pivot entirely away from …

It’s unbelievable, except it happened in California

The principal of Theuerkauf Elementary School in Mountain View, California, called police to remove a 4-year-old boy because he refused to wear a mask. It was his first day of school and the boy, who may also have learning difficulties, was already inconsolable when teachers asked him to put on a mask, the Daily Mail reports. When his dad showed up, the principal ordered him to leave the school grounds under threat he would be removed if he didn’t leave. The police then escorted the boy off the school premises. Theuerkauf Elementary School is one of only a handful of schools mandating masks in California. It changed its policy the next day. READ: Shocking moment boy, 4, is removed from his Silicon Valley school by POLICE after he refused to wear mask: Dad says face-coverings leave youngster ‘distraught’ As one blogger noted: “It’s the people in charge who are the children.” Meanwhile, as police walk 4-year-olds out of school, restaurant owners are training their workers in kung-fu to fight real crime. How God impacted Jim Wahlberg, the brother of actors Jim and Donnie Wahlberg

While Mark Wahlberg and his brother Donnie gained fame during the mid-80s as part of the popular boy band, New Kids on the Block, their brother Jim was going down a different road, Caleb Woods writes in his article for CBN. Having grown up in poverty, Jim began to steal when his family moved into a middle-class neighborhood, and he realized how poor they actually were. The first time police arrested Jim, he was only 10 years old and as he moved into his teen years, drugs, alcohol, and crime followed. At the age of 17, Jim was arrested for armed robbery and spent the next five years in jail. After his release, he began binging on alcohol and drugs and then remembered waking up in a jail cell, covered in blood, and after breaking into the home of a police officer. He was charged with home invasion, which can potentially come with a life sentence. But after the officer of the home Jim broke into pleaded for leniency, the court sentenced Jim to six …

Will jobs pay the price for the lockdowns?

It seems that the economy will soon be paying the price of the lockdowns, as two reports suggest businesses are struggling. The lockdowns not only resulted in governments shutting down non-essential businesses, but governments also shifted people’s spending habits online, jeopardizing local jobs. According to a survey of over 700 US executives and members of corporate boards conducted by PwC in July, nearly 50% stated that they were thinking of cutting staffing and 52% said that they had already implemented a hiring freeze, Breitbart reports. Breitbart noted that several major corporations have already started laying off employees: Home goods company Wayfair decided to cut approximately 870 workers to help manage operation costs and “realign its investment priorities” following the coronavirus pandemic, the Associated Press (AP) reported this week. In addition, Best Buy was also cutting jobs as the company grappled with shifting consumer behavior, the AP reported on August 12. Another report states that 97% of corporate executives believe America is heading for a recession. READ: 97% of corporate execs think US is in recession, …

Can church make us rich? The prosperity in the Gospel

We don’t hear the words “Prosperity Gospel” much anymore, but the idea is still with us. You might have heard the story of the pastor in Kansas City, who recently berated his congregation because they didn’t buy him an expensive watch. He asked in November, and he still didn’t have the watch by the following summer. One of his statements was like, “So I’m not worth your McDonald’s money?” He specifically asked for a Movado watch. I don’t operate at that economic level, and I had to read more to get the picture. A Movado is a very expensive watch. As a minister of the Gospel, the pastor believed he was entitled to some bling. Prosperity is a good thing, for God’s people. These days, there is always a person with a camera that can record videos. That’s not even a luxury anymore. The pastor’s lecture was recorded, and it went viral on the internet. He also apologized, a few days later. This is a lesson for us all; we can’t get away with anything: …
