Poll: University students want less free speech
A survey of university students in Britain reveals that they are increasingly becoming more opposed to free speech and conservative views, the Daily Mail reports. The survey, conducted by Higher Education Policy Institute (HEPI), found that 36% of students believe professors should be fired if they offend the views of students. This is more than double the percentage of students (15%) who held the same opinion in HEPI’s 2016 survey. As well, 39% of students believe that universities should ban all speakers that some students consider controversial, up from 16% in 2016.
