Does vitamin D work as a treatment for COVID?

According to researchers from the University of Cordoba in Spain and Belgium’s KU Leuven university treating hospitalized COVID patients with vitamin D may reduce the chances of going into intensive care. According to their study, 50 patients were treated with high doses of calcifediol, the hormone that the liver produces from vitamin D, and compared their results to 26 volunteer patients who were not given hormone. Giving calcifediol directly allowed it to enter the patient’s system quicker. The researchers reported that only two of the patients given calcifediol ended up intensive care, while half the patients (13) who were not given calcifediol ended up in intensive care. None of the patients who took calcifediol died, while two died who were not given the treatment. The Daily Mail also noted: Researchers have been divided over whether a vitamin D deficiency, which is vital to the immune system, can raise the risk of dying of Covid-19. Some scientists suggested that it may be one of the reasons black people face a higher risk of dying from the …

The church is facing battles on every side

2020 has been a very unusual year for the church as we face attacks on every side. We have states such as California determined to stop churches from reopening. The state is imposing massive fines if churches do and court cases are being launched over the constitutional right of believers to practise their faith. And recently a different battle has emerged in the state of Washington. With the help of Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), Cedar Park Assembly of God in Kirkland, Washington is taking the state of Washington to court because of a law the state assembly passed in 2018 requiring churches to provide abortion coverage if it also provided maternity benefits to its workers. According to ADF, what is particularly disturbing is that failure to comply could not only result in fines but as well imprisonment. ADF noted that the law as it stands does not provide a religious exemption. As a result of the law’s passing, insurance companies began to insert abortion coverage in the Cedar Park’s plan. In its brief to the …

Did Disney thank Communist agency running China’s gulags?

In the credits for its recent movie, “Mulan,” Disney thanked the Turpan Municipal Bureau of Public safety based in Xinjiang, China where Disney filmed its show. This is the same city where the Communist Party of China has allegedly set up internment camps to detain Uighurs and apparently the agency that Disney thanked, allegedly runs those camps. The Daily Caller explains: Human rights groups have largely stayed silent on Disney’s collaboration with Communist China despite China’s laundry list of human rights abuses. In the credits of Disney’s newly released “Mulan,” Disney thanked the Turpan Municipal Bureau of Public Safety, a Chinese agency allegedly responsible for running internment camps that detain Muslim minority groups, according to the BBC. Disney also filmed “Mulan” in Xinjiang, China, where the Chinese government has reportedly imprisoned Uighurs. Lockdowns lead to opioid crisis

With many questioning if the lockdowns even worked in stemming the COVID pandemic, reports are coming in that opioid usage dramatically escalated during the Lock downs. The Daily Wire explains: County health departments across the country are measuring a significantly increased number of opioid deaths over last year’s data and over deaths tallied in the first few months of the year before widespread stay-at-home orders were put in place, according to The Wall Street Journal. The pandemic and subsequent lockdowns have hit addicts and those struggling to stay sober particularly hard. Social distancing rules and fear of the virus have driven people to stay much more isolated from society and limited the typical tools for people struggling with addiction, such as sessions with therapists. One therapist added that isolation is one of the worst things for a person struggling with drug and even alcohol addiction. Meanwhile, in Sweden

Britain, like most countries, implemented a nation-wide lockdown in an effort to stop people from catching COVID. However, Britain is now bracing for its second COVID wave as new cases surge among people who didn’t catch the virus the first time because of the first lockdown. As a result, Britain is introducing a second lock down. In addition to a 10 pm curfew, Britain is introducing a rule of six. The Daily Mail explains: NEW LOCKDOWN RULES FOR ENGLAND FROM MONDAY  * Max social gatherings SIX PEOPLE * Applies indoors and outdoors * Applies in private homes * Applies in pubs and restaurants * Does NOT apply to schools or workplaces * Does NOT apply to weddings, funerals, team sport * Does NOT apply if household bubbles are bigger than six people * Police will be encouraged to break up larger groups and issue £100 fines, which will then double on each repeat offence up to £3,200 And oh yeah, government officials are threatening more severe restrictions if people don’t obey these.
