Surge in violence blamed on the Minneapolis Effect?

According to former Judge, Paul Cassell, who teaches at the University of Utah’ S.J. Quinney College of law, the surge in violence across the US is due to what he calls the Minneapolis Effect.

Softening our attitude when praying for government leaders

According to a poll conducted by Barna between Sept. 24-28, 2020, nearly 75% of pastors are concerned that the US federal election on Nov. 3, has the potential to negatively impact their congregations. The poll that involved 475 protestant pastors found that 33% of pastors said they were very concerned and 41% stated they were somewhat concerned. But there was an interesting second question. When asked if they were concerned that the election could potentially cause division in their church, 65% said they weren’t concerned, while 35% said they were somewhat or very concerned it would. It is clear from this poll that many church leaders are concerned about the impact governments are having on church life. These are difficult days for believers. We have seen governments unfairly shutting down church services while allowing similar secular businesses or organizations to stay open. I recently reported on how the city of San Francisco, as part of its Covid lockdown, limited indoor church services to just ONE person while not restricting businesses, with a similar impact, such …

Culture Relevance and Christianity

There is so much confusion about truth these days. Our society is fighting among itself trying to convince the other side they are right and they are wrong. This feels and looks like war to me. Ideological and spiritual war. A well-known quote, many attribute to US Senator Hiram Johnson, claims that truth is the first casualty of war. Variations of this sentiment have been around for centuries and has its base in the notion that we vilify our enemies and romance our friends. The US and Canadian media do a great job of vilifying Conservative Christians and our beliefs in the Bible as the truth. The truth of God, even the inconvenient ones, are replaced with acquiesce to the cultural desires. Do what thou wilt has replaced the ten commandments. We see this shift taking place in many societies around the world. Here in Canada, our culture values sexual identity issues above religious freedom. Definitions change to exclude traditional families and Biblical values. The core of Christianity is being attacked as the Bible’s inspiration …

Breitbart explains: More than 470 New York City police officers have been injured in the line of duty due to anti-police protests since May of this year, according to data through September 24 from the department and the New York Post. Black Lives Matter protests, sparked across the nation after the death of George Floyd, sent thousands of people flooding the streets of major American cities, including one of the largest, New York City. Officials from the department have stated that officers have been on the receiving end of Molotov cocktails, shot at, stabbed, hit with rocks and bricks, and hit by vehicles. Of the 472 who reported injuries, 319 of those needed medical attention from a hospital. Seven of those who were injured were admitted into a hospital, such as Lt. Richard Mack, who was severely beaten as he made an arrest on the Brooklyn Bridge in July. READ: Nearly 500 …

Amy Coney Barrett’s surprise Supreme Court endorsement

The political left has already started demonizing President Trump’s choice of Amy Coney Barrett for the Supreme Court after the passing of Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Barrett is a committed Roman Catholic and part of the church’s charismatic renewal. She was initially accused of belonging to a sect that was the basis for the Handmaid’s Tale. The story has since been retracted. READ: Nolte: Newsweek Retracts ‘Handmaid’s Tale’ Smear of Amy Coney Barrett Others have criticized her for adopting two orphans from Haiti. The Blaze explains: Harvard Law School professor Noah Feldman is a constitutional scholar and self-described liberal who testified during President Donald Trump’s impeachment hearings that Trump was guilty of “impeachable high crimes and misdemeanors by corruptly abusing the office of the presidency.” […] Writing in an essay for Bloomberg, Feldman said he was “devastated” …
