Who Do We Blame For The Virus?

So, who do we blame for the “Chinese Virus” or the “Wuhan Virus?” The name says it all, unless we change the name. The World Health Organization renamed it “Covid-19” partly to avoid blaming anyone for it. Some writers think we should blame bats because viruses like the Covid-19 are found in bats in China. It’s a bad time to be a bat. Apparently, the outbreak that is damaging the world so severely, started in China, in Hubei Province, in Wuhan city and that probably happened in December 2019, but the first cases of the disease may have occurred as early as November. The Government of China doesn’t like the criticism, and now we have a claim, popular in China, that the U.S. military somehow brought the virus to China. The U.S. does have several BSL4 labs. That’s the highest level of Biohazard Safety Laboratory. But then, the critics on the other side want us to know that China has its main BSL4 lab in the city of Wuhan, very close to ground zero for …

Touching heaven, touching earth

Like many these days, I am praying more often than usual and in so many ways God has used this season of ‘panic’ COVID-19 to pull me into prayer more consistently than I have done for many years. Yes, God clearly used this time to ‘work out good,’ and bring out good disciplines in my life.  But there has been a change in how I pray. I am now praying more often, but not as long as I used too. These are not extended periods of prayers. They can be short just two to five minutes or sometimes longer. As well, I have set aside specific times to pray. When the clock strikes 8 am, 12 noon, 4 pm, 8 pm and 12 midnight, these are my designated times to pray. I start first by giving thanks. I often take five slow deep breaths to help clear my mind and slow my thoughts and then I enter into a time of prayer. Sometimes things come up and I miss my time, but I carry on with …

Massive reduction in COVID-19 death predictions for Britain?

A study by London, England’s Imperial College, released in mid-March, stated that without significant measures COVID-19 plague could potentially kill 2.2 million people in the US and 500,000 people in Britain. These apocalyptic predictions were result of computer modeling predictions led by Neil Ferguson, who some consider the pre-eminent epidemiologist in the world. Based on these projections, countries around the world implemented Draconian measures that resulted in millions of people losing their jobs. But then the week following, there was a significant downgrade to Ferguson’s predictions. According to the website New Scientist, at a presentation this week before a parliamentary committee in London, England, Ferguson provided a small update to those numbers. Ten days after predicting 500,000 deaths, Ferguson stated that only 20,000 people would die in Britain and according to New Scientist, the number of deaths “could be much lower.” During his presentation Ferguson apparently added that because of underlying conditions and older age, over half of those would probably have died this year anyway. Shawn Bolz prophesied the ‘panic’ associated with the Coronavirus was ‘exaggerated,’ two studies suggest he might be right

When Shawn Bolz came out with his prophecy at the end of February about the Coronavirus pandemic, one thing that caught my attention was his suggestion that the fear associated with this pandemic was exaggerated. Bolz wrote: “The exaggerated fear based tactics of both the enemy and several media outlets for political reasons is coming to an end. MORE HOPE: Stanford Biophysicist Michael Levitt predicts the Coronavirus plague will end sooner than expected

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Stanford Biophysicist Michael Levitt predicts that the COVID-19 or Coronavirus will be over sooner than most people expect. Levitt is not just any Biophysicist, in 2013, he won a Nobel Prize for his work in chemistry. The Stanford professor did not receive a word from God like Prophet Shawn Bolz did at the end of February who predicted a quick slowing down of the disease while also suggesting the pandemic was exaggerated. Instead, the Nobel Laureate analyzed the data from 78 countries that reported over 50 cases of COVID-19. And he was not looking at the total number of people being afflicted with the virus in these countries or the number of celebrities who have caught it, but rather the reports of new cases of the virus. The growth of new cases is a reflection of how fast the disease is spreading and even Italy that has been in the COVID-19 limelight for several weeks is now reporting a decline in new cases. Lack is not the Issue

In these COVID-19 days, images of empty shelves are splashed across all media outlets. Long line-ups of people rushing to the stores to purchase food items and sometimes over-buying non-essentials, resulting in hoarding. While world poverty has been reduced significantly in the new millennium, there is still over a billion people world-wide who live in extreme poverty. Self-survival is not new to our generation and although we’ve never watched a child die from malnutrition, or had to resort to cannibalism to survive, a great majority have experienced a ‘scrapping the bottom ofthe barrel’ time. The Bible is filled with stories of people seeking provision during times of adversity. Jesus recognized this social issue; “The poor you will always have with you, but you will not always have me,” (Matthew 26:11). Panicking during droughts and diseases is mankind’s natural reaction to an adverse situation. But lack of provision is not necessarily the true underlining issue for our reaction. The ‘secret’ power behind speaking in tongues

I read an interesting testimony by James Alford who serves as an Apostle of the Righteousness Ministries International Church based in Marietta, Georgia. His testimony on Charisma revealed the secret power behind speaking in tongues. Tongues is one of the gifts bestowed on believers when they are baptized in the Holy Spirit. A few years ago, Alford was sitting in a passenger jet getting ready for take off. The pilot had just announced there would be a delay and at that very moment the Holy Spirit told Alford to start speaking in tongues. Though, he wasn’t sure why God wanted him to do this, Alford started exercising his spiritual gift. The plane ended up sitting on the runway for an hour and a half, and when he felt like quitting, God told Alford to keep speaking in tongues. It is difficult to do something like this when you don’t have the complete picture, but Alford obeyed this prompting, because that is really all it was. Mountain-sized asteroid will zoom by earth on April 29th

A recent Daily Mail headline immediately caught my attention as it read “Asteroid the size of Mount Everest set to fly by earth next month.” Of course, the reason for my interest is that the Apostle John in his vision of the end-times saw a mountain-sized asteroid slamming into the earth. But as I read the article, the asteroid known as “52768 (1998 OR2)” is only 2.25 miles (ca. 3,621 meters) at its widest point wide making it just under half the size of Mt Everest, the world’s largest mountain that is 5.5 miles (ca. 9 km) high. But despite this, 52768 easily qualifies as a mountain as it is larger than Oregon’s Mt. Hood that is about 2.12 miles (3.41 km) in size. This asteroid, first discovered in 1998, will fly by earth at 19,461 miles per hour (ca. 31,319 km/h) on April 29, 2020. The good news is that it will miss us by 3,908,791 miles (ca. 6,290,589 km). How Langton messed up what Jesus meant

You have probably never heard of Stephen Langton, but as a Christian you are very familiar with his work and have undoubtedly used it hundreds of times. Langton was the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Canterbury between 1150 and 1228 AD. About a year before he died, Langton created the chapter system that we use in the Old and New Testament today. It was first incorporated in the Wycliffe Bible in 1382 AD and basically used ever since. The verse break down was not created until 1555. Though the chapter and verse system has proven extremely beneficial over the years, the chapter divisions created by Langton have some very horrid breaks, tearing apart stories that were obviously intended to be together. Because of their very nature, chapter breaks suggest what is found in one chapter is not directly related to what appears in the following. Such is the case of what happens between Matthew 3 and 4. In Matthew chapter 4, we have the record of Satan’s temptation of Jesus. But there is a particularly insidious …
