After his encounter with the young rich man, Jesus said that it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 9:24).
The disciples quickly responded, it would be impossible for a rich man to enter heaven based on that. Christ didn’t disagree, but added, “This is impossible for mere humans, but for God all things are possible” (Matthew 9:26).
Though difficult, it takes the Holy Spirit for a rich person to embrace Christ and it is happening.
Fox News recently had an article about the unique ministry of Dylan Novak, a youth pastor at Henard’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Rogersville, Tennessee.
Dylan believes God has called him to take the gospel to the rich and the famous.
To date, Dylan has shared Christ with an estimated 2,000 celebrities. These included US presidents, such as Donald Trump, actors Tom Cruise and Keanu Reeves and even rock singers such as Ozzy Osbourne.
At age 13, Dylan recognized these mega stars had a need for Christ after reading an article about Superman actress, Margot Kidder. In the interview, she described herself as an atheist.
“Reality hit me one day that these celebrities, these people that we admire, these people that have brought us so much joy through the years with their entertainment work, they’re souls, just like you, just like me, who are on their way to heaven or hell,” Dylan said in his interview with Fox.
His first opportunity to share Christianity with a celebrity took place at ComicCon that brings in actors and actresses for live audience participation.
Since then he has developed a more personalized approach to sharing his faith with media personalities.
He now gives them a gift bag. This includes a Bible with their name embossed on it. It also has apologetic material like Lee Strobel’s book, The Case for Christ.
Dylan also writes a personal letter to the individual citing past comments that they have made about faith and religion.
Along with this, Dylan provides contact information if they would like to hear more. He noted that in recent months, a surprising number of them have reached out.
One of his more intriguing stories involves Ozzie Osbourne, the lead singer for the rock band Black Sabbath. He died on July 22, 2025.
In 2023, Dylan gave Ozzy a bag at an event outside Philadelphia.
In the letter, Dylan referenced comments that Ozzy had made about how the Bible was difficult to understand. Dylan wrote that he was providing Ozzy with a version that was easy to read. Ozzy actually opened the Bible on the spot and agreed it was much more readable.
A year later, Dylan said he was approached by Ozzy’s son, Jack. He shared who the Bible had influenced his father. Ozzy was reading it and even talking about it with people who visited.
After Ozzy died this past July, Dylan stated a strange thing happened.
“We had, no exaggeration, hundreds of people emailing us asking us for gospel information, saying, ‘Can you send me some of the material that you gave to Ozzy? I’m an old rocker, I rejected Christ years ago. But if Ozzy was willing to look at it, I’m willing to look at it.’ People saying, ‘I want to be saved’ and that is just so beautiful to see.”
Though, he is not sure if Ozzy ever put his faith in Christ, Dylan added it is easy to write off people, like Ozzy, because of their onstage persona.
Dylan pointed out in an interview with Postscript podcast, that Ozzy and his son did a cross country tour in 2017. This even included a visit to the Ark Museum in Kentucky, where they talked to the museum’s Christian apologist, Ken Ham, CBN reports.
It seems Ozzy was more open to God than many would think.
Dylan quickly acknowledges that not every encounter with celebrities is as positive as Ozzy’s. Nevertheless, this has not stopped him from sharing his faith.
Jesus acknowledged it’s difficult for celebrities to embrace the Kingdom of God. However, within the Lord’s disciples, we know there were rich benefactors. They provided financial assistance (Luke 8:1-3).
