The title of this article is provocative, so let me start with a disclaimer: Did six million Jews die? Was there a terrible Jewish holocaust during World War Two?

Yes.

Probably the most documented event in human history is the attempt to exterminate the Jewish people, led by Adolph Hitler and the Nazis.

So, why is this a question?

Many people today are trying to deny that the Jewish Holocaust actually happened. Holocaust Deniers have always been with us, but the movement has found new energy recently, and this is a symptom of us all. You might see or hear some of their arguments:

We should ask questions. What is happening in our modern world? How is our culture changing?

Some changes are growing in modern culture:

  1. The Internet
  2. Time Compression and if we don’t fix the problem, we will have two reactions:
  3. Stockholm Syndrome, and
  4. Donor Fatigue

1) The Internet:

If you want to learn about some topic, how do proceed? – Search the Internet, with your phone. You will find too much information, and your reaction will probably be emotional. We can’t really think deeply about so much information, usually with pictures. We are becoming shallow and saturated with entertaining information.

2) Time Compression:

How old is history? For many people, about twenty years.

We can’t take in information from long ago, visible only in fuzzy black-and-white photos, with no videos. The new Internet is more interesting and so easily available.

And if these problems don’t go away:

3) Stockholm Syndrome:

When an angry person gets forceful with us, what do we do? We agree and comply. Who needs the hassle of disagreeing, when the cost is so high?

I heard someone joking, recently. He told us, “If I disagree with modern issues, I will be called ‘right-wing, racist, homo or trans-phobic, and a climate change denier.’” He laughed, but he meant that the cost of his own opinions was too high for him. He didn’t want to die on that hill.

You might know, that when some Swedish people were taken hostage by some criminal bank robbers, they tried to survive by befriending their captors, and helping them.

Can you afford to have an opinion, these days?

4) Donor Fatigue:

Are you an enthusiastic supporter of something? Is that cause important to you? How long can you last? How much energy can you invest in the things that are indispensable to you?

In modern culture, we can easily reach the point of fatigue, and save our energy for places where we can win. This is even worse if we are mostly agreeing with people who are loud and aggressive, to avoid their negativity.

If we add it all together, we have a picture of our modern selves. It is so easy to be entertained and to become shallow, emotional, and ignorant of actual history. We can also be afraid to form our own opinions, and we can become tired of trying, or at least pretending.

If we see ourselves, and our direction, we can see how people can ignore the facts, and deny the Jewish holocaust, for example. Really, any truth is at risk.

On the other side, it is easy to win any argument, until people get tired of us. We can be loud and entertaining, and drown out the other side.

We were warned about this:

But understand this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For people will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, slanderers, without self-control, savage, opposed to what is good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, loving pleasure rather than loving God.

And there is a summary:

They will maintain the outward appearance of religion but will have repudiated its power. So avoid people like these. (2 Timothy 3: 1 to 5)

Are we ready?

One response to “Did six million Jews die?”

  1. Gary Lane in the CBN video asks a great question: “why not teach the holocaust as part of history in public high schools?”

Here’s another one: why do many public schools teach gender confusion and make explicit materials to minor children?

And another: why is it every other day now we are seeing arrests of teachers involved with grooming and abusing minor schoolchildren?

Perhaps Gary missed the part where public education got hijacked by Marxists over the last 50 years, and the setup to that was when the system was put into the hands of union bosses and politicians. I don’t know how a generation ever thought that would be a good idea, but it happened, and the results are clear. Public education is rotten at the root. Only a massive movement among this generation of parents and grandparents to remold the system based on merit and free market principles could yield another outcome.

I would love to see Christian media outlets like CBN beat the war drum of education reform, and remind parents they are very powerful and in fact necessary to that end.
