A Jewish teacher at a New York City high school was forced to hide in her classroom as students rampaged through the school demanding she be fired, the Daily Mail reports.
So what did she do to cause her to fear for her life? Photos had emerged of the Jewish teacher attending a pro-Israel rally.
Several students at the school initiated a group chat to talk about her attendance and according to one student, this discussion quickly turned to having a riot at the school about her participation.
Videos showed radicalized students running through the hallways of Hillcrest High School in Queen’s waving Palestinian flags and screaming for her to be fired. Some were shouting, the Palestinian slogan, ‘From the River to the Sea,” which is essentially a call to exterminate Israel.
The bathrooms were vandalized, and students could also be seen trying to break through the door of the room where the teacher was hiding.
Twenty-five officers with the NYPD, along with school administrators, were finally able to calm the rioters and escort the teacher safely from the school.
“[I] was shaken to my core by the calls to violence against me that occurred online and outside my classroom last week”, the unnamed teacher told the New York Post.
‘No one should ever feel unsafe at school — students and teachers alike. It’s my hope in the days ahead we can find a way to have meaningful discussions about challenging topics with respect for each other’s diverse perspectives and shared humanity,” she added.
Hillcrest High School has an enrollment of 3,200 students.
