ESPAÑOL: El caso de la existencia del espíritu humano, separado de nuestro cuerpo físico

In his story about the death of a rich man and a poor man named Lazarus in Luke 16, Jesus very clearly revealed that our bodies include a spirit.
We are told that after Lazarus died, the angels carried his spirit to heaven. The rich man ended up in what would be referred to as Hades, a place of torment.
It is obvious from this account that though in a spiritual state, both men were self-aware. The rich man experienced deep pain and agony and knew that his five brothers needed to spiritually repent.
This leads us to Angel Studio’s latest documentary production, After Death, which tells the story of Captain Dale Black’s near encounter with death.
The documentary grossed over $5 million in a limited theater release across America this past weekend. This not only made it the fourth-highest-grossing movie over the weekend but the highest-grossing Christian documentary ever produced, the Christian Post reports.
The movie tells the story of the near-death experience of Dale Black who 50 years ago at the age of 19 was involved in a plane crash that killed both the pilot and copilot, but miraculously spared Black.
As they were taking off at an airport in Los Angeles, their plane started having engine problems. As the pilot tried to land the plane, it hit a massive 75-foot-tall monument called the Portal of the Folded Wings, dedicated to deceased pilots, instantly killing the pilot and copilot.
The plane then fell 70 feet (ca. 21 m) to the ground. Those who rushed to the crash site, and saw Black’s body lying on the ground, immediately presumed he was dead.
But Black states that a strange thing happened immediately after the crash as his spirit left his physical body, and he saw himself hovering over the crash site looking at his own body and that of the pilot and copilot.
The Christian Post provides more details:
“I can say that I was above my body,” he said. “I can’t prove that, but I know that I was. I saw my body. I looked down, and I thought, ‘Wow, look at that. I died. So young, oh my gosh, I had a whole life to live. Oh my gosh, poor boy, poor me,’” he recalled.
Black also remembers still being able to comprehend time and being able to feel sensations while he was floating above his lifeless body.
“I realized, ‘Wait a minute. I don’t feel any pain at all. I’m not in any trouble. I’m just looking down at my body,” he said.
As Black stated, it is impossible to prove what happened to him, but it had such an impact on his life, that when he came out of his coma three days later, he dedicated himself to serving God.
There have been countless stories of people claiming that their spirits had left their bodies, and they saw doctors, as an example, working frantically to revive them.
Perhaps the most curious was the one told by Lee Strobel in his book, The Case for Heaven: A Journalist Investigates Evidence for Life After Death.
It involved a woman by the name of Maria who died while in hospital. Maria said that her spirit separated from her body and she hovered above her body watching the hospital staff frantically trying to revive her.
But her spirit continued floating upwards, and soon she was outside the building.
Strobel explains what happened next:
“And when she was revived, and her spirit returned to her body, she said, ‘Oh, by the way, there’s a man’s tennis shoe on the roof of the hospital and its dark blue, it’s left-footed, there’s some wear over the little toe, and there’s shoelaces tucked under the heel.’”.
The story was easily verified. There was in fact, a shoe on the hospital roof exactly as she described it.
