Coco Gauff praying after winning Grand Slam title on Sept. 9, 2023 Credit: X capture

After Coco Gauff, a 19-year-old professional tennis player won her first U.S. Grand Slam title on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2023, she went to her knees and prayed, Breitbart reports.

While the rest of the world saw the moment for what it truly was, ESPN SportsCenter tried to put a different spin on it suggesting on X, that Coco was actually reflecting on her Grand Slam title win:

I said tried because former NFL coach and now NFL analyst, Tony Dungy, was quick to correct ESPN’s attempt to rewrite history, by responding with his own tweet:

Through her success, Coco has been very open about her Christian faith.

“I feel like I’m a little bit in shock in this moment. That French Open loss was a heartbreak for me. I realized God puts you through tribulations and trials. This makes this moment even more sweeter than I could imagine,” Coco said after winning the Grand Title.

“I don’t pray for results,” she continued. “I just ask that I get the strength to give it my all. Whatever happens, happens. I’m so blessed in this life. I’m just thankful for this moment. I don’t have any words for it, to be honest.”

I suspect that Coco was actually thanking God.
