An interesting twist in the weather resulted in nearly 250 people accepting Jesus at an antique car expo sponsored by Commonwealth of Faith Church in Redford, Michigan, located just outside of Detroit, CBN reports.
The show was held on August 27, 2023, the final day of the church’s vacation Bible school. However, an intriguing change in the weather resulted in an unexpected number of people attending the event.
The church car expo was being held on the same day as a major car show in Detroit called ‘Cruisin’ Hines’. It is held annually on Hines Drive and attracts thousands of visitors.
Because of the conflict, people were actually pressuring the church to cancel its show.
However, the church decided to press ahead anyway.
Then a strange thing happened as torrential rain in Detroit a few days earlier forced the organizers to cancel ‘Cruisin Hines’ because the ground on which the show is held was too water-logged.
This resulted in hundreds of people, who would have attended ‘Cruisin Hines,’ to visit the church’s car expo which was still on. It was held in the 800-car parking lot that was part of a Roman Catholic school/Convent facility the church had purchased.
In addition to featuring over 500 antique cars, the church car expo had bouncing houses, children’s games, Bible trivia, and other entertainment. According to reports, the church’s car show was jammed with people from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Midway through the day, the church’s pastor, Torion Bridges, preached a 16-minute salvation message to the crowd.
In an interview with the Baptist Press, Bridges, who described the Detroit rain as ‘Divine intervention,’ explained what happened during his brief message:
“At that time people got out of their cars, people got out of their truck beds, people got out of their picnic chairs. They got out of their seats, and 246 of them made decisions for Christ.”
