Shoplifting has gotten so bad at a Walgreens store in San Francisco, that employees chained and locked store refrigerators to slow down the criminal behavior brought on by Democrat politicians and AGs who have gone soft-on-crime.
CNN recently visited the same Walgreens store in Richmond reported to have the highest theft rates of any store in San Francisco, The Blaze reports.
The TV crew was in the store for only 30 minutes and witnessed three thefts.
Though the Walgreens store had removed the chains from the refrigerators because of the bad press, the CNN crew interviewed people in the store for comments about other anti-shoplifting policies still in place.
The Blaze writes:
“It’s become kind of like a police state in San Francisco. I don’t know how else to describe it,” said Phil Hammack, who was shocked that he needed an employee to unlock bags of coffee for purchase.
“This was bizarre, something I’ve never seen before,” said resident Richie Greenburg, who responded to regular day items being locked up. “This is just more icing on the cake telling us that rampant crime has become a regular part of life.”
