Climate activists have been trumpeting the recent record-breaking heat waves in America, Asia, and Europe as another sign that we have to stop carbon emissions which in their mind is causing man-made climate change.

It is so bad across Europe, that land temperatures in Spain reached 140 Fahrenheit (ca. 60 °C).

Of course, along with this left-wing news outlets have been blasting out news headlines feeding that fear.

There have also been reports of unusual weather events in recent weeks including a tornado mega cluster that hit Chicago in mid-July canceling flights and leaving thousands without power.

Then over two days, the state of Vermont received as much rain as it would typically receive in two months resulting in the worst flooding the state has seen in 100 years.

No one disagrees with climate change, but what is debated is the cause. Is it being caused by human activity? Are there natural explanations for it, or perhaps even spiritual?

Though it’s all being blamed on man-made climate change, driving SUVs, and eating meat, what isn’t getting as much press is the unusual activity currently taking place on Earth’s sun.

The sun, which is so large that you could fit 1.3 million Earths inside it, has a profound impact on Earth’s temperatures and seasons.

One of the leading factors affecting our weather is sunspots.

Astronomers have been studying and recording sunspot activity for well over four hundred years. During the mini ice age that struck Europe between the 1300s and the 1800s, resulting in heavier snowfalls, the freezing of the Thames rivers and crop failures across Europe, we see that it coincided with a dramatic decline in the number of sunspots.

Not only does a reduced number of sunspots result in cooling, but too many can have the opposite effect.

NASA and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) report that the sun is rapidly becoming active recording 160 sunspots in June, the most in a single month for over 20 years.

It was a shock to both NASA and NOAA which were projecting much less activity.

Space reports:

For example, whereas NOAA and NASA predicted a meager 27 sunspots for December 2021, the sun produced 67 — more than double the estimate. And in May 2022, instead of the 37 sunspots predicted by NOAA and NASA, there were 97, producing solar flares and coronal mass ejections. The intense solar activity also caused geomagnetic storms on Earth, wreaking havoc on satellites in orbit and triggering magnificent auroral displays.

But it is not just the number of sunspots it is also their size. One of them, A3354, is ten times larger than the Earth and grew to that massive size in under 48 hours before releasing a massive X Class flare that hit Earth causing a short radio blackout.

LiveScience tells us a bit more about AR3354:

The enormous dark patch, named AR3354, emerged on the solar surface on June 27 and within 48 hours had grown to cover around 1.35 billion square miles (3.5 billion square kilometers), or 10 times wider than Earth. Space weather scientists were alarmed by the colossal sunspot’s rapid emergence and feared it could spit out a barrage of potentially harmful solar storms, according to Spaceweather.com.

So while the experts were caught off guard by the sudden and dramatic increase in solar activity, what could be causing this? Could there be a spiritual explanation?

There is an interesting verse in the Book of Revelation, the Apostle John’s vision of events that would be taking place in the end times, where he spoke of the Earth being judged with an extreme heat wave:

The fourth angel poured out his bowl upon the sun, and it was given to it to scorch men with fire. Men were scorched with fierce heat; and they blasphemed the name of God who has the power over these plagues, and they did not repent so as to give Him glory. (Revelation 16: 8, 9 NASV)

As we read this passage, three things stick out.

First, the extreme heat was caused by God, after the order was given to seven angels to pour their ‘bowls of wrath’ upon the earth (Revelation 16:1).

Secondly, we read that the fourth angel poured his bowl of wrath upon the sun, disrupting it, so it released a massive amount of heat upon the earth. It was described as a fierce heat that scorched men. I am not sure 60 degrees Centigrade land temperatures in Spain qualify as fierce heat, but if it doesn’t, I am concerned about what temperature will.

Thirdly, we see man’s response, they actually blasphemed the name of God. In other words, they did not repent, which might be explained by people being conned into thinking that CO2 is the source of climate change, not the sun or God.

So are we in this season of the seven bowls of wrath?

I don’t know for sure, but in Revelation 16:12, we read an interesting verse about how the sixth angel poured his bowl of wrath upon the Euphrates River causing it to dry up.

And recently we are starting to see warnings that this is actually starting to happen to the Euphrates River, compounded by the heat and human activity.

Have we entered the phase when God releases the seven bowls of wrath on the Earth, I can’t be sure. Time will tell.
