While many in the mainstream media continue to condemn Sound of Freedom, the story of one man’s fight against child trafficking, as a right-wing conspiracy, it continues to thrive at the box office.
The movie stars, Jim Caviezel, who plays the role of Tim Ballard, who left his job with Homeland Security to fight child sex trafficking.
This past Monday, July 10, 2023, Sound of Freedom was once again the top movie in America beating out Insidious: Red Door which in turn had just taken the number one spot away from Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny over the weekend.
Sound of Freedom had $4 million in ticket sales on Monday night followed by Insidious with $3.5 million.
The movie continues to confound experts because not only is it a faith-based independent movie with an independent distributor, starring a Christian actor, it is showing in significantly fewer theaters than the movies it is competing against.
Initially, Sound of Freedom was only available in 2,600 theaters while the others were typically showing in 3,100+. But due to the growing interest, the number of theaters showing the film climbed to 2,850, with another 300 expected to be added over the next few days.
But then on top of this people are reporting strange things happening at theaters where the movie is being played.
According to Newsweek, there are reports of people being forced to leave midway through the movie due to unusual circumstances.
This included an incident that took place last Monday when Sound of Freedom was the most-watched movie in America. Of course, having the movie canceled mid-showing and the money refunded meant its numbers weren’t included in Monday’s totals.
A TikTok user named @isntheaddaisy reported on what happened to her last Monday night. She apparently recorded the video in the theater’s lobby after being forced to leave the theater where it was being shown:
“So I’ve been seeing all over TikTok that people are going to watch the movie Sound of Freedom and these weird things are happening like random emergency evacuations, the air conditioning not working and having to leave the theater.”
“And I thought ‘no that’s probably just something that’s happening in other theaters in other places. So I took me and my daughters to go watch Sound of Freedom today.”
“About an hour and twenty minutes into the movie we get a random emergency evacuation. None of the staff knows what’s going on. The mall wasn’t being evacuated, just the theater.”
In an interview on the Relatable podcast, Tim Ballard, on whom the movie is based, stated that the negative reaction by mainstream media and other personalities is simply a reflection of the spiritual warfare taking place for the children.
“This is just some other agenda, who would want to get the backs or run interference for pedophiles and human traffickers? That’s the more important question in all this. Why would you want to lie to push an agenda whose goal is to have children be in captivity? It’s kind of sick,” Ballard added in an interview with Fox News.
