I want to share a vision I had in a prayer meeting in early February 2023. I saw a picture in my mind and spirit of a beautiful Ocean, where the water was so calm, it barely moved and it glimmered with the sunshine.

I was standing on the shoreline, and I was thinking that I could walk out into the ocean because of how safe and calm it appeared.

As far as I could see out in the water it was still and calm, not a hint of a breeze, when suddenly a huge crescent wave appeared a few meters in front of me, with no warning. It was at least 30 feet above me, and it appeared so fast and so powerful as it violently crashed upon the rock and shoreline.

At first, in this vision, I thought God was showing me that our prayers may seem calm and insignificant but suddenly they cause a wave and crash, which is true but God quickly said “No, I am showing you an anointing I am releasing to the body in this season. It’s the Breaker anointing, and I am the breaker. I am the one who breaks through the hard things and suddenly appears when it seems impossible. My power will break the hard things.“

I shared this with the group and we pressed into God and asked for His breaker anointing to come.

I believe this is the year where individuals and churches who press into God through prayer and His word will see and experience a real breakthrough in their lives, congregations, cities, and regions. I also believe this is the year of the ‘Breaker Anointing‘.

We have all heard the expression, “caught between a rock and a hard place”, haven’t we? This usually refers to a person having no options that will bring about a positive result.

Both the rock and the hard place are not good life-giving options for the individual who is caught. but God has an answer to this dilemma, for the individual, the church, and the world. 

The truth is so many of us know exactly what that familiar expression feels like, some of you reading now, feel you have no other options except hard or harder, so the answer is to stay stuck.

We usually end up praying for a breakthrough. But how often do we really see that kind of breakthrough where the hard things become soft or are removed altogether? 

This is where we need to dig deeper into the Word and allow the Father to open our eyes to the spirit realm.  We need to learn about the Breaker anointing.

Let’s look at God’s word where the breaker anointing is first mentioned. In Micah 2:13 (NKJV) it says:

“The one who breaks open will come up before them; they will break out, pass through the gate, and go out by it; their king will pass before them, with the Lord at their head.”

This is significant, it’s the King who went out before them, the King who broke the gates. King Jesus is our breaker.

The Hebrew word translated “breaks open” and “break out” is parats; among its meanings is “to break open, to burst forth or to come out.”

The breaker anointing of the Spirit breaks open the heavens and removes blockages that have been preventing the presence of God from moving in its fullness. It confronts not only the bondages and issues in our individual lives but also the dark spiritual forces that preside over cities, regions, and nations.

And immediately before this, in verse 12, the Lord promises that His people would return to their land. In verse 13, we see that God is sending deliverance, leading them out of bondage and into freedom. God doesn’t just leave us to deal with it, He sends us into freedom.

No matter what stands in the way, there is an anointing to break off every hindrance and break up anything that is blocking what God has for us.

The word breaker means to break through – break through hindrances, bondages, delays, anything that has been stopping you or holding you back. Anything!

So, in my vision of the wave, the Lord was stressing that He is the wave, He is the breaker, He is the anointed one, who breaks every hard thing… It was so in the old testament and it is so in the new testament.

When the Holy Spirit was poured out on the day of Pentecost, He broke open the heavens over Jerusalem, removing the spiritual barriers keeping people from receiving the gospel. Thousands of people from every culture and language were saved in one day due to that outpouring (see Acts 2:1–41).

The breaker anointing removed the veil over the eyes of people, so that which was once hidden in darkness suddenly came into the light.

This was not possible without a supernatural outpouring of the Holy Spirit.  Spiritual barriers can not be removed from thousands of people in a moment without the breaker anointing, without the Lord’s command for Heaven to invade earth, and dare I say without God’s people pressing in through prayer, crying out for the breakthrough they so desperately need and want. 

People were hungry for the move of God, even back then as it is today.  Our hunger does not go unanswered, our prayers are not weak. They have the ability to reach God almighty and provoke a response if it is in His will!

Prophetic teacher, Jill Austin, defined the Breaker anointing this way, “A breaker anointing is a catalytic deposit of the Holy Spirit where eternity breaks through into the natural realm. It is a holy invasion where the gates of heaven are opened!“

“This type of anointing will break through every obstacle and hindrance to the furtherance of the Gospel. It shakes every shackle loose that holds individuals and the Church back from coming into their destiny and inheritance.”  

Sounds good, right?! 

In my research, I also read an article in Charisma Magazine on the breaker anointing by Andre Ashby and I want to share a portion of that with you.

“When Jesus began His ministry, He announced that He had been given an anointing of the Holy Spirit to set people free, “to preach deliverance to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed” (Luke 4:18).

Another name for this anointing is the “breaker” anointing, which is based in part on Isaiah 10:27: “In that day his burden shall be taken away from off your shoulder, and his yoke from off your neck; and the yoke shall be destroyed (“broken,” NIV) because of the anointing oil.”

I can’t stress enough, it’s not because of How I know how to pray, or that I went to the preacher who knows how to pray, it’s because of His anointing!

Ashby continues:

“The yoke is a symbol of alignment and partnership. The breaker anointing of the Holy Spirit comes to shatter every point of agreement and partnership that we might have with the devil and the powers of darkness in our lives, and remove the heavy burdens and bondages they create.”

I can hear what some of you think: “I don’t have any partnership with the devil or the powers of darkness.” And I would say, most of us do not make conscious decisions to partner with the devil. 

However, there are things that the enemy uses to keep us in a legally binding contract with him. One of the biggest things is unforgiveness.

I have found over the years that unforgiveness gives the enemy a right to put you into bondage.

Until we take the authority and break it, the enemy thinks he still has some kind of power and authority there over us, and in reality he does, to a point but Jesus is greater.

The demonic is legalistic and systematic. It creates loopholes and twists to trip us up and keep us deceived, even to the point of not knowing who we truly are in Christ.

I’d like to share a personal story of a time in my life when the breaker anointing became real to me. My parents divorced when I was seven years old, and I never saw or heard from my dad again until I was about 12 years old, and in the life of a child that is an eternity.

The enemy took full advantage of my broken heart and put a spirit of abandonment and rejection on me. Even when my dad came back into my life, that spirit was still there causing great havoc and pain.

So when I was around 16 I found Jesus, and boy I loved Jesus. I loved His Holy Spirit, but when it came to His Father, I would prefer Jesus would leave Him out of our conversations, I was way more comfortable with Jesus than His Father. I had transferred the rejection I received from my earthly father and put it on my spiritual Father.

And even though I was filled with the Spirit, and in a great church, there was still this rejection, “God doesn’t really love me like that, like a daughter. There must be something wrong with me, if my own Dad could not love me, how could the Father love me?”

I believed that lie.

Well a few years later, I was able to travel to Toronto to attend a revival meeting that had been going on in the 90s, known as the Toronto Blessing.

I was so excited to be there and had an amazing time in worship, but I was feeling very uncomfortable, so when they announced there was a group from Spokane Washington, who wanted to give a presentation to anyone 15-19 in another room, I gladly left.

I did not realize this was exactly God’s plan, and in this presentation on their Bible school, a young lady came to me and asked if she could pray for me.

God had shown her my wounded heart and she prayed a simple prayer but suddenly God touched me in such a powerful way that every chain was broken and every demon of abandonment and rejection fled. The breaker had come and His anointing set me free, to receive the Love of the Father, and to forgive my own earthly Father.

The breaker anointing brings Revival, it brings repentance, salvation, deliverance, and abundant life in Christ.

The prophet Isaiah spoke of a Breaker Anointing that would set people free, and I believe this anointing will come this year:

And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing. Isaiah 10:27 (KJV)

I want to stir you up today!!  Start Speaking God’s Word, pray in the Spirit, and stand in faith, and God the Breaker will break off and destroy every yoke, roadblock, and obstacle, and release to you your fulfilled, healed purposes in Him.

The Breaker Anointing is coming. The wave is on the horizon today, so enemy, you’ve been warned.   The church is waking up, I am waking up. I am tired of the enemy, and the heaviness he brings, I am pressing into the Father, the breaker is coming!!!
